Q’s: how do you determine the length of the pencil attached to the marking-stick? Did you use 2-pcs b/c of limited material length?

Length of the tread, and then he goes back with another marking stick the length of the riser height plus the thickness of the tread.

Why would you do that? Leave your framers a note “need to hv a 7/8” gap between stair and drywall”. Drop skirt board in. And nail off ; of course you hv to find your angles I use a digital level make by Stabila! U loose money doing it that way?
