Thanks for this series. Very few “gun-tubers” go to so much effort to evaluate and present information like this.

I am interested in the CVLife scopes, so thanks for performing the elevation/windage and back to zero test. This is something that is often missing in youtube budget scope reviews. It is an important aspect of a budget scope's performance that tells a lot about the build quality of the scope. Much appreciated!

I think I officially converted my closest canadian buddy of over a decade. I don't know why but it feels way more satisfying then I thought it would. 😂

All this time I thought having two scopes in line just increased magnification 😂. Very nice practical look at two products, thanks.

Good morning HR. Very thorough comparison. I like that double scope set up, like a magnifier with a red dot. Does looking through a 15x at a 16x give you 31x or 240x?😂
@hrfunkАй бұрын
That's too much math for me this morning!

This is a very good video. I probably need to watch it again. I did do some research and there are some scopes you can set the 0 without tools.

I know, but not enough of them.

Thank you for this definitive series, Chief! And an extra 'hat tip' for the use/mention of Marine Corps Engineering. There's nothing on this planet that cannot be solved by the judicious use of a bigger hammer. 😉 🇺🇸

A very good, well produced video. Lots of good information on both scopes. I have been interested in a 1-8X scope that I think would fit my intents and purposes for my rifle. That CVLife may also be a good fit. Vortex does have a 1-8X that falls into my price range though. Thank you Howard for your efforts in making quality content for us.

Good information. I think I'll save a little more money and buy a Athlon scope with a better zeroing system, and from reviews I believe it has better glass as well.

Love the videos as always HR! I was going to ask what is the pistol in the bottom left hanging up? It looks like a stainless beretta but I had to double check. Thanks for the videos again! 🎉
@hrfunk18 күн бұрын
It’s actually an airsoft copy of a Beretta.

Good evening, HRFUNK and family. 💪🇺🇸💪🍻. You got that correct. Those set screws are 🤬. Nice review once again. Is that a Kung Ku pistol grip on your AR?

Informative as always! The Viper PST doesn’t reflect the value for the price in my book. I must have at least 3 or 4 of the gen1. They’re not what they should be for the money. The crossfire line is better than the older viper!
@hrfunkАй бұрын
I tend to agree with you. After testing this scope, I would be hard pressed to spend upwards of a grand on one. It strikes me more like an optic that should retail for about half that much.

Thank you for a thorough well thought-out series of tests to evaluate these scopes. The Vortex dials for zero-stop are a disappointment - unfortunately, I have two Vortex scopes (2.5-10x, 4-16x) that I have yet to mount on rifles, but it's too late to return or replace them. I hope they work better than what you encountered. Maybe you could contact Vortex regarding your zero-stop issue? This review has to be embarrasing for them.
@hrfunkАй бұрын
Thank you. I haven't decided what to do with the Vortex scope yet. Maybe I will contact them.

I’ve seen the 25x viper for $500…I paid $800 for my 3x15 4yrs ago. It fell through banisters on porch on my dd5 upper round 4’ to the ground busted scope cap and barely lost zero. That sold me on em…shot many .5” groups after that.

👍👍 I like some of the Chinese made stuff it's as good and sometimes better for the price, but you never know if it was made with slave labor. The Chinese aren't going to re-engineer that cap they usually steal someone else's design

i'll put a tad of vaseline on the rubber seal to get it slide better. The three screws are a pain.

I like to varmint hunt in early morn or dusk out to past sunset. So, you observations on Low Light visibilty resonated with me. On that point, I have a 20 year old Simmons 3x9x40 that came with my Savage 22-250 -- it had to be relatively cheap to be part of that package. I cannot find another scope these days that remotely matches it's Low to near Zero Light capability. Wish I could find a 16 or 24 power scope that could match that capability. Alas, Simmons name is not on current scopes. Some forums suggest those scopes rebadged to Browning, but I can't confirm.
@hrfunkАй бұрын
Nor can I. The Simmons scopes have been around for a long time. There are several models currently available on the optics planet site. One thing to consider about low light performance is that image quality usually degrades as magnification increases. If you get a scope that is more powerful than your 3X9 model, you might have to spend a good deal of money to also get comparable low light performance. Best of luck!

One thing I've noticed about cheap optics is that they can get dirt and dust inside, and they're probably not moisture proof
@hrfunkАй бұрын
I haven’t noticed that, but if I do I’ll report it.

Vortex all day. If for no other reason than their customer service is incredible and US based. Customer service reps can literally go down the elevator and talk to the engineers while you are on the phone.
