It’s been great watching you improve each time, you’re obviously way more comfortable in the R44 now. Very smooth and you can tell you’ve really got a “feel” for the machine. You’re a lot more confident and it shows in how the aircraft responds to your inputs. Excellent work!

Watched them land the President into a parking lot at Soldier Field in Chicago. As this huge Marine CH 53 came in what do I see, the crew chief with his head out the window looking backwards watching that tail rotor. Gave me flash backs to my Huey crew chief days many years ago. One thing stays constant on all helicopters, hitting the tail rotor on anything is gonna ruin your day. Really enjoy you and Lester together.

Just curious why you chose to do the [minimum] 30-hr Private-Add On versus just going all the way through initially with the [minimum] 50-hr Commercial-Add On to get it all knocked out in one fell swoop. I'm trying to decide which direction I want to go as I'm in a similar situation as you (major airline guy with a hardon for helis).

Time and location. If we had a GI Bill eligible school I would’ve done the commercial. This is out of pocket so PPL made sense. I was going to then use the GI Bill to get my ATP add on, but some opportunities have come up and I need a CPL for a few projects. The limitation has been the 35 hrs PIC. So as I’m just now reaching that, I’m getting my commercial now. It’s only 3 hrs of prep. Plus I got 6 months of flying on my own which allowed some fun flights.

Hey Mover, I enjoy your videos. I have an ATP fixed wing and am going through a helicopter add on right now. Would you recommend doing a PVT add on followed by a COMM add on like you did or do you think it’s doable to go straight to a COMM add on? Thanks in advance!

So really dumb question here, why go for your commercial addon if you have no interest in flying commecially in a helicopter? Is needed for something else you have planned or is it more the challenge of doing it? Just curious more than anything..

@CWLemoine2 жыл бұрын
I have never seen one go to idle. You’re holding the spring and getting a needle split. What do you fly that goes to idle?

@@CWLemoine Saw you actually mentioned this comment in your latest video and that reminded me! I'm currently instructing in R22/R44s and ours split and stay right at around 70-ish% during the glide. I do teach at nearly 3500' field elevation so that likely is the difference.

This may be relevant: LOW FLIGHT Oh, I've slipped the surly bonds of earth And hovered out of ground effect on semi-rigid blades; Earthward I've auto'ed and met the rising brush of non-paved terrain And done a thousand things you would never care to Skidded and dropped and flared Low in the heat soaked roar. Confined there, I've chased the earthbound traffic And lost the race to insignificant headwinds; Forward and up a little in ground effect I've topped the General's hedge with drooping turns Where never Skyhawk or even Phantom flew. Shaking and pulling collective, I've lumbered The low untresspassed halls of victor airways, Put out my hand and touched a tree. -Anonymous
