Thanks so much for all the info. I had no idea that I had a choice of properties in Colorado Springs. I contacted the housing authority, and was treated like a criminal for asking questions!

You’re absolutely right the Housing Authority has been terrible for me they wanna dictate where I go what I do. I feel I have been an ideal tenant I wash my floors every day my cupboards are organized I’ve had to repaint some areas because they never painted it properly the first time. They don’t fix things in an orderly fashion and some people have waited up to five years to get something repaired. I’ve had to hire people to fix things for me. I want to be in a place that I know is safe, clean, no drugs, no smoking.I don’t like being put down by my caseworker

I was on section 8 andmoved lost section 8 and am ha ing problems with them age 86 what do you sugest desabled and in mentel health for 65 yeares post tre stress

I live in Las Vegas Nevada. It is near impossible to get on Section 8 waiting list there are droves if peoples coming here to live only to take our permanent residents who have worked all our lives away by working the system.Section 8 waiting list is never open so our options are limited making it even harder to find affordable housing. Rents have gone up triple what they used to be.I used to live this town now it is occupied by some greedy people.

I am 66, on SSD, Aboriginal, female, living in my van with 2 small dogs and cat for 10 yrs and have been put through the wringer by entities which can't be bothered to even return my calls. I am losing the ability to walk for spending so much time in this stupid van. I sometimes feel my ulcer actually chewing.

I’m in an extended stay America & I was previously renting a room from a family but the landlord said she would have me leave sue to her not wanting to rent any part of her home. I lived in the pool room & no running water no air & heat. I’m a senior & I’ve been pushed around & bounced around no one deserves to live this way

Hello I'm living in a privately owned section 8 complex, which is project based section 8. And I am a disabled woman 58 yrs old and I put in a 504 back in November 2021 for an accessible bath/shower cuz it's too high to climb in, and the regional manager still hasn't done anything as of today, except having a couple of contractors take measurements What do you suggest? I live in NY

Where in Bronx, NY can I get affordable housing information? We were displaced by fire last year, living in a friend's basement in a house she's going to sell. Both of us on SS, no pensions. Old apt was rent subsidized and affordable. We do not want to move into project housing at our age but. We are active seniors and only want an affordable apartment.

my name is Sharon, and I live in California. I am a retired disabled senior. I am having a difficulties getting heat in my 55 plus apartment for two years. I've been hospitalized twice with namonia. I been told that I do not qualify for section 8. Do you have any information to give me for possible getting some help. I want to file a civil suit for breach of contract as well as senior abuse. I have paid my rent & this landlord pushed me to pay her cash only, she was audited & owed $20,000.00 and her tax preparer said not to have any Zelle paperwork to accept the rent

I know my comments are long, what can I do, I can't afford the rents now, they're over $1000 a month, and that's almost all I of my Social Security check. If they would've come to my apartment in Texas, they would've saw that it looked like an earthquake had gone through my apartment. I still have the pictures, plus I had roaches. And everyone thought I kept my Apartment very clean. The City Manager even told the Manager that she needed to repair the walls in my Apartment, so if the Housing Inspector had come to my Apartment he would've seen what the damage was like. They never showed it on the video.

I was thinking about the violence with the project based housing. I’m in Ca and is being pushed by my sister to get the housing vouchers. I’m not sure why she’s pushing this, I don’t know how the program works.

I'm in Florida on SSI. I'm going to end up homeless in a couple months due to room mate leaving. I'm 57 soon 58 . I have COPD and I can survive outside. I don't have a car so I can't even use it as a short time shelter. I use electric for a medical device I use every day of my life. I just need to know if there is help for me . I'm in Florida.

Good morning and thank you for your services. A friend of mine in Virginia is 57 yr old female, disabled and displaced after 20+ years living in same place. On SSI with no spouse no husband but has one pet and kids are grown. She has felonies in her past but the last one was over 12 years ago. She applied for housing recently and waiting to hear back. Will the felonies hold her back? Are there resources that can pay her rent and utilities or IF she is accepted will she have to pay 30% out of her SSI check $925 a month is what she gets now. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I don’t know if you can answer this here but some insight would be great. My father got arrested in 2018 for possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor) and possession of controlled substance (meth) 😣 however the meth charge got dismissed. So he only got charged with the possession of drug paraphernalia. Do you think I should pay to have his record expunged or can we apply and see? I worry it will still show up on his background check and they’ll deny. But to get it expunged would be very pricy so I’m not sure what to do. He’s not on probation or anything anymore and hasn’t gotten in anymore trouble since thank god. Thank you!
