To apply for an emergency section 8 voucher, and to try to be given priority to bypass a waiting list (whether it is open or not), immediately call a local public housing authority (PHA) in your town or county near you. Some agencies provide a housing voucher application online as well.
EMERGENCY HOUSING VOUCHERS
The Emergency Housing Voucher (EHV) program is available through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). Through EHV, HUD is providing 70,000 housing choice vouchers to local Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) in order to assist individuals and families who are homeless, at-risk of homelessness, fleeing, or attempting to flee, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking, or were recently homeless or have a high risk of housing instability.
EHV Dashboard
Review the EHV Dashboard for daily updates on leasing, issuances, and unit utilization, and information on voucher awards and funding by PHA. Users can navigate the dashboard pages by selecting the forward and back arrows or the EHV dashboard can be accessed via the EHV Dashboard page. Training will be provided on the EHV Dashboard during Office Hours on November 16th.

I love you for what you do. I’m a 70 year disabled homeless senior with arthritis in spine, cong heart failure diabetes displaced by Covid-19. I have been waiting 23 years. I was contacted 3 years ago, from San Diego housing, with apologies, that I exceeded the wait time. I am currently homeless, along with sick son. Due to loss of his job, due to Covid. When I call, I keep getting different answers! I was told in beginning, I had emergency voucher, then told they had no emergency vouchers. I am a 56 yr old Man, as of 2022 I was rendered a Paraplegic as result of Motorcycle crash, & have been in Hospitals & Physical Therapy Facilities ever since until feb 1st, 2024.
