@@SirCharlzTV cp2077 is based on the tabletop you stupe ahh Mf, you dont even know the difference of "Story" and "Character Creation". Not to mention, in the Ending just Bartosz was in the "Story" credits along with "Aditional Script" meaning he does not do the full script or character creation, just the story (Knowing this, is easy to catch who was the guy who dont want a "Loli"). You can know that because the "Story pre production writters" are in the credits, and are not Jan or Lukasz, they do only CP2077 not Edgerunners. The script was done by Studio Trigger boys.

Some context for the Trauma Team. They are a private "insurance" company where if you are a client they will monitor your status and vitals and as soon as something happens to you and you are injured they will come as fast as possible and they will literally kill anyone who tries to stop them from saving you or want to hurt you. They are more like private military with paramedics or like a swat team for hire. Of course they are very expensive and only care about their clients.

Also, if you shell out for their highest tier subscription, they can quite literally bring you back from the dead. There's only a 10 minute window, and the brain has to be intact, but they have the technology to resurrect you - if you can pay.

Cyberpunk Edgerunners is 100% something you want to watch in the ENG dub. I'm not even a native english speaker and I prefer the ENG dub, for the simple fact that it uses AMAZING voice actors that are also present in the game, which is the anime source material. The Game's original audio is in ENG (even though the studio who made it is Polish), so it makes sense to watch the anime in ENG.

Fun Fact: "Eddies" stand for "Euro Dollars". The Cyberpunk tabletop game was published in 1988, over a decade before the real life Euro did. What's funny about the setting are things the author was able to predict and things he didn't. In the recent video game, he reminded the designers that HTML doesn't exist, so the internet is heavily App based instead of Browser based. Edit: HTML was written in 1993

Cyberpunk isn't just the name of the show, it's the name of an entire sub-genre of science fiction. Ghost in the Shell, Altered Carbon (as you mentioned), Blade Runner, etc. are some examples of the cyberpunk genre. In this genre you don't save the world, you try to save yourself.

It definitely has elements of cyberpunk and was heavily influenced by Ghost in the Shell which is a cyberpunk... but I don't see it as the best example to convey the essence of cyberpunk. It leans closer to sci-fi and has elements of a more post-apocalyptic dystopia.

@@LuisSierra42 not exactly. I'm not saying it's NOT a cyberpunk, but it's certainly understandable why some would debate that it's not. It blends a number of genres and contains elements that aren't ordinarily consider cyberpunk. The story is too large in scale as well. Cyberpunk stories aren't typically about saving the world (as my original post points out) nor do they typically center around a large scale all out war to save humanity. There is no cyberpunk city where the city itself is a character, and the plot hardly showcases classism as most cyberpunks do. Again, I'm not saying it's not a cyberpunk. I'm just saying it's not the best example to hammer home what makes the genre unique. Most people watch the Matrix not even realizing such a genre exists.

Yeah, the show doesn't doesn't explain the concept of Brain Dances very well; but then again I guess they were hoping the audiences would infer a lot the setting from the visuals; but a concept like Brain Dances should really get a few lines of exposition to explain their limits. Come to think of it, I think the show doesn't distinguish the difference between a BD and a VR experience.

That got me curious and I looked at the top 100 anime on MAL and while I don't know them all, from what I can see, there really is only one other that isn't based on a Japanese story and it's not even a series (Howl's Moving Castle), so it's indeed rare. Although not quite so rare for me as a German, having grown up with anime like Vicky the Viking, Maya the Honey Bee, Heidi, Girl of the Alps, and Alfred J. Kwak. 🥲

LOVE the music in this show. One of my favorite OP's. This show revived the game. I had played it when it came out despite the unfinished state and it was still really good. The show is great and has a great dub, it has some of the voice actors from the game (although they are minor characters). Also this is the game that Keanu Reeves was in, he was a big selling point for the advertising of it. Favorite episodes: 8 10 6

Just a comment. Most of this isn't fundamental to "capitalism" it's simply "greed." Nothing in a capitalist economic system requires denial of healthcare, housing, food etc. In fact many European countries have free healthcare, a living wage, free housing for the homeless, and are capitalist. Canada is capitalist and has free healthcare and abundant social services. The problem is when you allow greed to put business in front of people and greedy people and/or simply corrupt people allow systems that fail to provide for the people. Like here in California we have a housing crisis and it's entirely our own making. Because decades ago we the people made laws that make it difficult and beauracratic to build more houses. And we, the people, allow that because we are greedy. Because now that we have housing we would rather not use our tax dollars to make the whole of society better, no we'd rather just take more money for ourselves, not build shelters, offer social services like we did in the past. It's greed. We don't want more traffic that comes with more houses, or to pay for the trains to get cars off the roads. That's us being greedy. That's a problem in pretty much every economic system. You can very much have capitalism without greed and abuse of the most vulnerable people. In the US we've chosen greed. But hell we did that since before we were a country. We chose to enslave people to make ourselves rich. That's just greed and laziness.

Not that it's bad, far from it, but it's just a very chill, adorable and wholesome anime and people are more interested in recommending shows with action, or stunning scenes, or amazing fights or complex storylines. Studio trigger has very unique style tbh cyberpunk is one of their more tame shows animation wise but its great regardless also cyberpunk was game that came out some years ago that I think was based off a book but yeah all the locations in the show are one to one in the game.

Cyberpunk is a dope genre. It’s essentially futuristic technology meeting steampunk/dystopian punk. There’s a game about it too, and while it has it’s fair share of flaws, it has gotten better overtime. That’s where the inspiration for the anime came from, and in my opinion it does a damn good job at portraying the theme that is cyberpunk. You guys are in for a ride.

This was a cool show on its own but people who played the game can especially appreciate it. Since it's a short show I wanted to drop Steins Gate and Code Geass as recommendations for anime you could check out in the future. They are both classics on the level of Fullmetal Alchemist and you could have interesting discussions after every episode.

Really unexpected but also really welcome. While the length of this show is like watching a 2 part movie it is amazing how much it accomplishes with or without prior knowledge of Cyberpunks universe. Also with this being your first Studio Trigger show I hope you try out some of their other stuff. Personal favorite and what my vote would always go to is definitely Gurren Lagann but I have yet to watch Kill La Kill which also sounds amazing

So, some explanation: Cyberpunk is a show that is adapted from the video game series Cyberpunk, who's most recent release, is Cyberpunk: 2077. This game series does take place in our world, but our world where big corporations run everything. I don't mean how in our world big corporations have influence, but literally. Corporations control nations, cities, everything, and it's very literal; they decide what countries go to war, they fight their own wars, etc. Everything is owned by corporations, including the medical field, which is why the Trauma Team just ignored David in his mom. This show, and the games, take place in Night City, which is the worst place to live in the entirety of this future, corporation ran world.
