Fun Fact 11 years later that everyone probably knows by now: Knuckles can’t jump as high as Sonic or Tails. So in Knuckles In Sonic 2, you HAVE to beat Robo Robotnik the safe way. This also makes the boss in Metropolis Zone way more difficult.

You can still hit him without him landing from a jump, it's just very, very difficult

I think this is part of the reason you keep your rings after special stages. They wanted to encourage Super Knuckles use in Metro because he can't jump high enough to hit that boss until he starts coming down, making it basically impossible not to get hit and keep re-collecting rings. And I think you only need 25 for special stage as well? Possibly even less rings needed to be collected. I got them all when I was 7 and I can't see how else I would've done it if that weren't true

Thank you so much! I got to the point where I pretty much memorized the exact movements of Silver Sonic due to constantly dying from the final boss many times. I beat the boss in the matter of 15 seconds,lol... But yeah, the guide on how to kill Robotnik's robot helped a ton!

kudos to you dude... you know, I'm gonna be 24 soon and still have not beat this game. I came really close tonight, to this level of silver sonic. I didn't quite know what to do at first. The one before that though was difficult for me. If only there were rings, but then it wouldn't be called death egg zone. I definitely have the potential and capability to beat it now that I've been able to master wing fortress zone. Someday.... it will be the death of me. I've seen my bros get to that last boss but died and they did well, so they have yet to beat this as well, and they're both 28 or 30.

In the Long Version of Sonic 2, Death Egg has three acts. Act 1 is Chemical Plant Act 1, but Death Egg music and a space background. Act 2 is Chemical Plant Act 2 with space background, Death Egg music, and no water. I call it "Uncreative Zone".
