more like the other way round cyclists are like roaches honestly see it from our point of view cyclist is in front of you hes weaving up and down through traffic hes giving out no signals how the fuck am i meant to predict what hes going to do half of the time people beep at them to make them aware its a car close behind them and not to suddenly pull out like they do the drivers got more to lose as well if a cyclist plows into them the cyclist may have a few cuts and bruises and will be doing the exact same thing in a week or 2 its nothing compared to the trauma the driver will suffer knowing they hit someone over too scared to get behind the wheel again not being able to get to work etc and the damage to the car the insurance wont cover it either. 1 more thing your not riding a great big tank bit of consideration to move to the side and let the drivers pass would be nice

Just shows that your live doesn't matter to them. But when they hit you and ( hope not) kill you. They will be looking at 4 walls for the rest of their lives. The drivers in this clip as no respect for any other road users. I HOPE EACH AND EVERYONE OF THOSE DRIVERS GOT A FINE AND POINTS ON THEIR LICENCE. Be Safe mate and i hope you report each and everyone of those drivers .
@benedictearlson9044
@benedictearlson9044 2 жыл бұрын
If you check the papers you'll see drivers don't usually go to prison after killing a cyclist, often they pay a small fine and will get a suspended sentence. British justice seems to accept 'oh I didn't see him' as an excise for killing someone. Too many invisible cyclists out there I guess wearing their invisibility cloaks, Halfords should stop selling them.

Quite sensible and soundly based on experience no doubt.
@darcymr353
@darcymr353 2 жыл бұрын
I agree and disagree at the same time weirdly. That very last clip for instance. There's no doubt the driver saw the cyclist and yet the cyclist did the right thing, as opposed to backing off and letting the dangerous driver go ahead and do their manoeuvre. The driver needed to know that they couldn't just turn left and expect the cyclist to slam their breaks on. I guess it's a balance between dodging dangerous situations and being assertive when you're fully in the driver's view.
@jylbo
@jylbo 2 жыл бұрын
@@darcymr353 Isn't it a bit too altruistic to put your life in danger to educate the drivers? Like yoy, I am also of a mixed opinion as a cyclist, but when I see in advance that the driver is clearly going to do a dangerous maneuver, I leave room for imbecility.
@darcymr353
@darcymr353 2 жыл бұрын
@@jylbo it's a tricky one. I made sure to mention being assertive only when fully in the driver's view. Drivers need to know that they can't just drive however they want and expect passivity and feebleness from cyclists. Yes it's a balance of risk but if you're visible and assertive, you send a message to drivers that makes them realise they have to be just as accommodating the next time they come across a cyclist. You're essentially cycling in a way that benefits other cyclists and vice versa.
@jylbo
@jylbo 2 жыл бұрын
@@darcymr353 You are right, it's a balance between the two. I'm not english, so I just Googled "assertive" and it's the right term to use. I'm also very visible and I try to have eyes contact with drivers at crossroad, etc. For me, we have a duty to be "nearly-perfect" on the road if we don't want the drivers to blame is. I do all my redlights and stops, signaling left-right turns, exactly like when I'm in a car. I think it's important for us and for our reputation to avoid passive-aggressive behavior and show we respect the Road Code. I just wanna comment because (not pointing toward you at all) I know how easy it is for cyclist to have a bit of aggressivity when encountering bad drivers. I did have my share of bad behavior, even if I was always "by the code". Have a great day and stay safe everyone !!!

Well if they're cycling on a road, like they're entitled to do, I don't see a problem. If a driver swerves in front of a cyclist, blocks the cycle lane or nearly side swipes them, it's obviously a little more problematic.

Fair question which I'll answer as OP hasn't had the time. On a roundabout of this size if you go along on the inside of the lane cars entering WILL NOT see you. That's not a MAY not see you, 60% WILL NOT see you. So you can go anywhere in your lane where you feel you will be more visible - that's well within the rules of the Highway Code. The outside of the lane is a bit far for me but he's staying as far away from cars entering the roundabout as he can so he has time to react if they don't see him. You can see this gave him space when the car entered against his priority.

Speaking for America, roads were originally designed for automobiles. Cars, trucks, busses, bikes, motorcycles, horses and carriages and pedestrians do not mix well. Especially with cell phones in constant use nowadays. Everyone needs to pay better attention to the road. Won't do any good to have your tombstone to say "at least I had the right away". Be careful as no one owns the road.
