Well. Technically, jail is a residential social rehabilitation and punative punishment administration facility. There are all kinds of bars and chains society can place on people. There is nothing fun about any sort of madatory residential rehabilitation facility, from what I understand. (not that they should be fun, but they shouldn't do harm either) That's one of those aspects of our society that needs a lot of ... rehabilitation, pardon the pun.
@andrewbatts76783 ай бұрын
@@LoneWolfUsul a psychiatric facility isn't punitive, nor should it be. Jail is punitive. So the two are different on a fundamental level. If there is any similarity at all it is the loss of liberty. Many aspects of jail is more repressive than psychiatric treatment and vice versa. But that is something that we could kill many hours as well as many bottles of scotch discussing.
@bluflaam777LSA3 ай бұрын
@@andrewbatts7678 Not punitive so much as 'feels like it is'. That's just the nature of having freedoms restricted or outright taken away. You can also go to a psychiatric facility for observation not directly related to any accused crime. Many times the judge has no say in how long it might take for the evaluation. It can take weeks, months or longer if the Doctors determine so. (In some states there are limitations even to that). Not for punishment's sake, but for safety's sake. (to themselves or others) A friend of mine murdered his wife who was terminally ill. Non-op stage 4 cancer. He and his wife both agreed for the 'mercy killing'. He pushed her down a steep stairway and she broke her neck. He was placed in a psych facility for a year until it was determined he was 'ok' to be released for trial. He as deemed temporarily insane at the time of the murder. and was deemed safe to be released without further eval or any punishment. Mental illness is a complicated thing. The judicial system has a hard time with it tho' it does its best.

@@LoneWolfUsul Everything in jail is designed to cause discomfort. Cold stainless steel everything, all of the diet is made of soy which is known to cause diseases, weeks without fruit and vegetables, weeks with no fresh air, classes taught by people who don’t know what they are talking about, medicines prescribed by doctors are constantly being not allowed in the facility so people’s health conditions become out of control and they are locked away alone, overcrowding where you have to step over bodies to use the toilet, hiding the crowding since it’s illegal when the health department is paying a visit, federal officials coming to make sure everything is going well don’t check anything just stand and run their useless jaws to the people in charge of the pods. Shit I could write a book on the illegal treatment of people. It’s not supposed to be cushy but it’s suppose to be humane.

The judge reac off 30 cases of trespass, theft etc. The defendant seemed to have the program down pat. What a waste of a human life.
