Shame this highlights package doesn't have the clip of Pog coming up to Pellizzari, giving him a smile, and signalling him to get on his wheel. Or when he grabbed a bottle from the roadside and immediately gave it to a young kid running beside him. Pog is such a champion - in every way.

@@danielfazolo8622 I am guessing Jonas has a very specific training schedule leading up to the Tour. He clearly is focused on winning the Tour, whereas Pog is off winning monuments and such. Clearly Jonas is way off schedule to peak for the Tour as he has done in the past, not to mention his physical recovery. With all that said, even if Jonas was on his normal peak this year, with the way Pog has been riding all year, I still think Pog could beat a healthy, peaked out, Jonas this year.

If he is, then the racing organization as a whole would be conspiring to let it happen. I'm not so sure they want to risk total destruction of the sport should another Armstrong era be exposed. To me, in all sports there always are those that stand out above the rest. There are always people that are just gifted beyond all the rest and also have everything else going for them (team, training, youth, etc). Myself, I take a positive attitude toward it, they are being checked all the time, the bikes are being checked all the time. So why bother being suspect, I just enjoy it.

@ehlava most definitely not Lance. Eddy might have doped but Lance doped, lied with a straight face and made millions through Live Strong. If it wasn't for his cycling lies Live Strong would not have been a success. Pog is not Eddy and definitely not Lance.

A joke realty , one man just making every other rider in the peloton look like amateur’s . Don’t get me wrong I love the way he races but just a shame nobody can get near him this year makes the racing boring and let’s hope the Tour de France 🇫🇷 isn’t going to be like this let’s hope he gets challenged . He’s doing wonders for cycling to which is a good thing

reality check in the last three TdF, the 3rd was at more than 7 min, the rest at more than 10 min. Grand Tours right now are just a two men game. And there, they couldn't give it all carelessly because they had to control each other. When there is only one of them (in top form) at the start, instead of the 3rd/4th, it is the 2nd to be left at 10 min

It's sad with all the trolls in every comment section about the giro. It seems this generation is paying the price of some assholes in the past who've killed the reputation of the sport. I won't blame anyone for not wanting to be burnt twice, but if you cannot believe in good performances i don't see the point in watching. I won't say no'one is cheating. But the idea that pog's doping because he dominates a race without any other top gc contender is just unfair. There's nothing impossible in his performances. The watts he's doing this giro are not extraordinary. Thomas and Martinez struggled to cross 5.5 w-p/kg in the mountains, and pogi did not do a single climb at an unusually high speed. JV on the Loze and Marie Blanque last year was decidedly quicker. All sports have their superstars. In cycling we're lucky to have 5/6 guys at a very high level. Unfortunately, the calendar and injuries means they hardly ever race each other. There's been no suspicion directed towards any of the current lot, and they do seem much more credible than even 10 years ago. Mvdp and WvA, Remco and Pog have been stratospheric talents since youth. They are not random also-rans who suddely become incredible. JV is a freak of nature with his weight and vo2-max being noted since adolescence, and Rog had a long road to develop transitioning from a completely different sport (and while he's consistent and the perfect one week rider, he's arguably never reached the level of the others anyways). Of course, you can never dismiss doping in pro sports. Yet, this is not the 90s. There's no wonder drug everybody's on. In fact, because of the history, cycling has a much more rigorous testing regime than almost any sport except for athletics. So, it's among the least likely sports we're seeing large-scale systematic doping. The teams know the disastrous financial repercussions, and there's not that much money in it anyways. The big team sports are a completely different matter. That's where the money's at, and there the testing is close to non-existent... In cycling, even if some individuals might take something for a marginal gain , the performances we see currently have nothing to do with a systematic issue. The "unnatural" performances are in fact the completely natural development of the sport. Average speeds go up because of substantial aero gains (just look at the jerseys and equipment they were wearing in 2009...) and in-race nutrition meaning riders can go hard all day (they can now take in twice as much carbs per hour as 15 years ago and race in a completely different way). Conditioning better because this generation benefit from training with powermeters from young age, and training science is massively improved. The effects of all these improvements are visible througout the sport, from the top level to the lowest categories everything is substantially faster. The fact that with all these improvements in the sport the top climbers are still not faster than the 75 kg monsters from the 90s tells you how absurdly juiced they all were...

After watching this Giro and the early season I have to conclude that it is once again a two speed peloton. I have been watching pro cycling for over thirty years and whilst he has been drug tested many times something is amiss. These performances are glorious but unnatural. My eyes do not lie.
