I don’t typically comment on KZbin videos ever. But you are so impressive. Iv been watching your channel like TV. Your shop seems like it operates so clean and smooth. The organization is incredible. You set the example for other machine shops and engine builders. I really want to work up to what you do. This is not just entertainment for me. Fantastic! And thank you for the english, (very good). That closed deck will help keep the liner true and round, it will help promote sealing of cylinder on the hi comp motor. Love the wunder hund! From Seattle.
@trickeng4 жыл бұрын
Individual inserts absolutely DO NOT keep cylinder round. Even a super precise single ring like CylinderSupportSystem distorts the top of the cylinder but much less than multi piece close deck methods. Oversize pistons are typically required after closed deck to ensure cylinders are round straight and proper piston to wall can be achieved.

Is the "issue" with the ej257 not so much the close deck, it's already semi-closed, but with the cylinder wall liners being much thinner than the ej207? If you had to choose one, you you choose close deck or inserting sleeves? BTW, the close deck you just did looks really nice. Oh, and larger head studs and case bolts would be an optional extra on top after this? Thanks.

And here I am with an old school lathe & milling machine it's all manual no electronic takes ages to setup, I spend half the time making jigs or tools to do a particular job. Nice work on the block, question the cooling ring slot why so deep I seen other but not as deep as you have done wouldn't this weaken the top edge seems to defeat the purpose of a close deck to stop micro cracks appear at the top of the deck?
