Not just the Greek Cypriots, the international community see it as an invasion and occupation
@elenigeorgiou873 ай бұрын
It IS an invasion not an intervention. If it was an intervention why didn’t the Turkish withdraw and leave the island after they restored conditional order. After that they brought Turkish mainlanders to live in our houses and properties left behind. It’s an invasion and ethnic cleansing. Turkey is well versed in both. Today the native Turkish Cypriots, who are completely different culturally to Turkish mainlanders, are a minority in their own home.

unfortunately it is true and it is sad whats happening especially in the north😢 words cant describe it. As a Turkish speaking Cypriot I can say that they are moving a lot of population which makes us more minority and we are not given a chance to choose even our own president to carry on peacetalks. thats what they did against our former president Akinci...

It is not invasion if it was then Turkey would’ve taken the whole island from Greeks who’s started abusing, killing innocent Turkish Cypriots civilians. Without Turkey’s arm force all Turkish Cypriots would have been killed with ethic cleansing by the Greeks . Thanks to Bülent Ecevit 🙏 I’ve seen the beautifully made documentary which gives me hope that peace is possible for our new generations This is not easy but it’s possible when people on both parts stops the blame game and respect one another.

80% Greek speaking, 18% Turkish speaking, 2% Armenian & Maronite to be exact

Those figures aren't right because it doesn't factor in (1) the Latin Cypriot community (2) the immigrant communities and (3) the fact that Armenians, Maronites, and Latins are legally part of the Greek Cypriot community.

It would be a lot better for all the people if Britain was still in charge !

Clearly not as it was British rule that's in large part responsible for the present mess!

3:22 then the Brits came along and destroyed a perfect harmonious peaceful coexistence between Greek and Turkish Cypriots? Shouldn't he reference the beginning of the Ottoman Venitian war of 1570-1573? That was the campaign that distrupted the population balance of the island.

Well let's go further back to 12th Century when Brits came the island and give the island to Crusaders. : )

Blame the British as usual. The Turks conquered and dominated the Greek Cypriots. The Ottomans transferred sovereignty to the UK in 1878. The Turkish Cypriots collaborated with the British willingly. The myth of peaceful co-existence is just that. Turks believed Greeks have no right to self-determination and the later trying to fight back is considered evil. The fact that people let the Turks get away with this is shocking

I think the narrative has been biased for years & a lot of people don’t know the suffering the Turkish Cypriots went through at the hands of the Greeks leading up to 1974 with mass murders & people going missing & living in ghetto style enclaves where food & medicine were restricted. After Turkey came in there was a bit of get your own back revenge taking, and then the Greek Cypriots suffered with losing land & mass murders etc. But ultimately the innocent on both sides suffered & continue to suffer till today.

To understand the today’s problems in Cyprus, one need to know 3 names, Makarios the 3rd, the monarcho fascist junta regime in Athens, and Megali Idea.

Not "complex" at all. It's very simple. The Turks invaded Cyprus and stole half of the island.

You are from mainland Greece, then,you should know that Greeks have not a clue about Cyprus they dont even know where the island is. Have they mentioned anything about this documentary in Cyprus tv channels? Most of the "Cypriot" tv channels are from Greece like ALPHA. A lot of jernalists who work in those "Cypriot" tv channels are from Greece,same scenario with the radio stations,have they mentioned anything about this documentary? This is a joke .
