UPDATE: Official pricing is here! The PHEV version will cost 47,500-59,000 USD, while the EV will cost 50-54,500 USD. Not quite as cheap as I predicated, but now we know the air suspension, dual fridges and lidar-based ADAS are all standard! BYD also revealed that it would be sold in European and Asian markets, but prices will be well over twice as much as here in China…. At 9:43 in the video, I state that it seems PHEV models don’t have the compass turn function. This is incorrect! Both EV and PHEV models have the e3 system with compass turn and other functions as standard, it simply hadn’t been activated on our test car for the event. Apologies for the mistake!

Fun Fact: Denza was a joint brand 50/50 invested by BYD and Mercedes years ago, but this brand sold poorly in Mainland China market, then BYD took 90% shares, and here we have these brand new products, and they are selling well. Edit: BYD holds 100% shares of Denza since mid September 2024.

Tariffs in place by the US/Canada will prevent such vehicles from entering those markets, but Chinese cars offer such compelling features that the US producers will not be able to compete outside of those two countries and will become small local players only. China keeps putting out vehicles that people want, they're interesting, they're exciting, they have amazing features and they sell them at prices that people can afford. They are going to dominate world markets.

You see cars like these and you honestly understand why 100% US tariffs are in place. In a truly free market, BYD-Xpeng-NIO-Geely-etc would decimate the American and European makers. These guys are doing to the auto industry what they did to cellphones. This is basically a Porsche Panamera at 20% of the cost. Amazing quality and craftmanship.

We have just come back from Guangzhou where we went to the auto show with Ethan and we were amazed by the range and finish that were on offer. We then took a tour of the district with the Wheels Boy team in various cars and went away very impressed and far more EV friendly. I encourage you to try out one of their tours next year to get a feel of what China has to offer.

The pure EV model will be available in China beginning next month ( November ) Yes, I have same experience with the seat position. A little bit high. From the explain missing the information that in the sport mode the distance of the car bottom between the road surface 50 mm. The acceleration f@cking impressive. Thanks for the air suspension, the stability of the car very good. The hybrid version battery capacity 38,5kWh and the CLTC range 201 km. ( only with battery ) The prices in china for Max: 364.800.-Rmb / 51.980.-USD for Ultra: 414.800.-Rmb / 59.100.-USD

This car also has the auto parking assist that sways its rear-end to get into those impossible tight parking spots. You drive the head in at an angle and the car will take care of the tail end for you. Seen it in action in a video. It's sort of like the BYD U8 tank-turn, but only for the rear. It's actually very cool and practical.

EVs require less overall maintenance but every dumbass i know in new jersey is afraid of "EVs catching fire every day" despite never actually seeing one on fire. the car dealerships of america have an intense lobbying arm hellbent on spreading FUD. this denza is lovely and AFTER tarrifs is still cheaper than most high end SUVs by domestic brands

DENZA Z9GT's rear wheel steering is NOT the same as EQS, Z9GT's two rear wheels are controlled independently, they can turn to same or different side, i.e., can toe-in and toe-out to create better braking performance, stability, or turning agility, which also enables the elegent drift-in parking ability

Since this post, I checked the parking lot at my job in SOFLO. The highest percentage of vehicles are Japanese. Second is Korean. Mercedes is third and US brand vehicles are last which is a handful. Even when my coworkers are in the market for a new car it isn't for an American brand.

It does not need that much power crusing, like under 50KW. A 2.0T engine is enough to provide power for both crusing and charging the battery, so the battery can restore enough energy for large power requirements such as accelerating.
