Thanks I think for all the great information and the way you get to it and get it done. As a 70 year old beginner I went off the deep end today and ordered a CZ 457 MTR - Fully Loaded from Area 419. Had ordered a Boyd At One for my CZ 457 trainer but for some reason that we haven't figured out yet that seems to be a step backward so I decided restore it to it's original configuration and shoot it with open sights as a field gun and move up to something with the MTR barrel. Keep on keeping on.

Great video Josh. My CZ 457 is taking shape, but it is taking time. I still have the MTR stock, with the area 419 arca rail, I use a accu-tac pc-5 bipod with the arca conversion on it. Now scope rail has been a little tough. The only one that is in stock was the CZ 25 moa rail. You are are right the 419 is a better rail, just always out of stock. Maybe I should just wait until one is in stock. The longer I wait, the less time I spend on the range. I also bought a timney trigger. The lightest I could get my stock trigger with a yo dave spring was 2 pounds. Maybe mine was just messed up, since it was one of the very first 457’s to hit North America. The Timney trigger is very nice.

Josh, you mentioned something that really grabbed my attention. The Lilja barrel and head spacing for SK or Eley. I have a 457 mtr with a factory match barrel that absolutely loves SK and RWS, but Eley is shootable given enough force to close the bolt. It definitely feels like a headspace issue with Eley. Does Eley ammo have a thicker rim or longer cartridge? I’m a little disappointed not being able to shoot Eley in a factory rifle because it runs great in my other rifles.
@PursuitofAccuracy10 ай бұрын
Eley rim thickness is thinner than lapua or sk. But the eley eps bullet engages further up so what your feeling is likely engagement of the projectile into the lands. Thats certainly not a bad thing.
