Thanks I think for all the great information and the way you get to it and get it done. As a 70 year old beginner I went off the deep end today and ordered a CZ 457 MTR - Fully Loaded from Area 419. Had ordered a Boyd At One for my CZ 457 trainer but for some reason that we haven't figured out yet that seems to be a step backward so I decided restore it to it's original configuration and shoot it with open sights as a field gun and move up to something with the MTR barrel. Keep on keeping on.

Great video Josh. My CZ 457 is taking shape, but it is taking time. I still have the MTR stock, with the area 419 arca rail, I use a accu-tac pc-5 bipod with the arca conversion on it. Now scope rail has been a little tough. The only one that is in stock was the CZ 25 moa rail. You are are right the 419 is a better rail, just always out of stock. Maybe I should just wait until one is in stock. The longer I wait, the less time I spend on the range. I also bought a timney trigger. The lightest I could get my stock trigger with a yo dave spring was 2 pounds. Maybe mine was just messed up, since it was one of the very first 457’s to hit North America. The Timney trigger is very nice.

Josh, you mentioned something that really grabbed my attention. The Lilja barrel and head spacing for SK or Eley. I have a 457 mtr with a factory match barrel that absolutely loves SK and RWS, but Eley is shootable given enough force to close the bolt. It definitely feels like a headspace issue with Eley. Does Eley ammo have a thicker rim or longer cartridge? I’m a little disappointed not being able to shoot Eley in a factory rifle because it runs great in my other rifles.
@PursuitofAccuracy
@PursuitofAccuracy 10 ай бұрын
Eley rim thickness is thinner than lapua or sk. But the eley eps bullet engages further up so what your feeling is likely engagement of the projectile into the lands. Thats certainly not a bad thing.

@@donrumato3413 no problem at all don. The problem we have seen is that rimfire ammo is naturally very dirty ammo. Once you start shooting your gradually changing the volume of the suppressor which adds another variable that could impact your overall accuracy. Its also very common here for almost all pcp to habe a silencer or have a full barrel shroud. In the US you have to get a special tax stamp to get a suppressor and its a long process. But since a pcp is not a firearm it is not regulated so all the pcp can have a suppressor or barrel shroud.

@@PursuitofAccuracy thanks! When you look into the scope does it seem darker (most light reflect into camera) or not as clear. I guess does it bother you enough that your accuracy could be impacted by the cam mount. Great content btw!

@@PursuitofAccuracy I have the newer Varmint Precision Trainer MTR. I'm coming in at 12lbs with scope. Way too light for my liking. Did you add weight to the rear ? I'm trying to find a way to add weight without casting it.

@@PureDrive8888 the weighted arca rail helped a lot. I ended up leading the barrel channel as well. Eventually i went to the acc on them all, easier to balance and get the weight you want
