as you think the first one is sounding really nice, then you get blown away by the P90 EX-59 guitar

Very nice review. Thanks for the comparison of the EX-DC to a Jazz hollow body guitar. Most demos of the DC are more rock oriented but I've wondered about he jazzier tones Great playing too!

☑️👍great demo thanks ❗️ lifetime acoustic guitar player ; last several years delved into some budget priced 335 style HB semi- hollows ; but eventually discovered I liked P90 style pups much more on full hollow body , so was able to acquire D'Angelico DLX 59 and then the Excel 59 in SB shaded body ‼️ 🙃☻️🌙 🤓😎🤑

Stunning presentation of both guitar's capabilities both visual and audio segues as well as blends. Masterful performance, Richard. Tabs?

Hi Alan, thanks so much for the positive feedback. Unlike Blues Headlines, these aren't transcribed - we put the track idea together, then I go for a couple of solo takes while Martin films me (hence no 'punch ins' on my little mistakes...)

Pleasant. The neck pickup tone on the EX-DC is sleazier than a 70's Cadillac!

I have been looking at the EXL-1 which has great reviews both plugged in and acoustically with a floating pickup. The EX 59 really sounds great, with a lot of diversity in sound and obviously has a better pickup system. One of the things I am looking for in an archtop now is a large body guitar that also can be played acoustically and sound good while practicing and just jamming in the living room. How would this compare acoustically with the EXL-1 played acoustically? Thanks a bunch!

☑️ have the Excel 59 and Dlx 59 , my questions similar to yours ; I've discovered these guitars sound pretty bland unplugged but you will get enough sound ; what will be better is a 1w _ 5 watt tube amp head and you can get all the warm golden tones or cleans you could ask for at low volumes ☻️

nice playing.....however, were are they made,and what do they cost. can you order one without the silly brass nob headstock as some of us like wood.......
@richardbarrettguitar12288 жыл бұрын
Hi Rory, there are full details in Guitarist 410. These videos are designed to supplement that info rather than replace it, but I take the point. 🙂

Not a chance on not having the "silly brass nob", it's been the standout addition to the D'Angelico headstock design since the 30's.

Amazing guitars, great playing. Lovely demo. But as a rocker i would really like to see some overdriven tones out of those, the DC specially seems to be a nice guitar for vintage rock tones. And the 59 seems very suitable for Yes playing.
