@awdswimmer28 жыл бұрын
I agree, throwing at a batter's head is always uncalled for. But I've long been of the opinion that if you're going to retaliate against anyone for a hit batsman, you should bean the guy who actually hit your player. Not only do you get the point across that you're not going to stand for your guys being drilled, but it sends the message that you are blaming the person actually at fault instead of the whole team. Kennedy had a wild pitch to Puig to start it off (not totally unlike him), but Greinke knew exactly what he was doing when he almost threw behind the batter. That was totally intentional and I have no problem with Kennedy deciding to throw at him for that. Just not to the head, that's going too far.

I have to give MLB some credit for posting this video. Even though MLB has often been behind the times, they understand that this brawl was a rare occurrence by MLB standards, and there's no need to hide it from the public view, especially since the most hardcore baseball fans want to see it. Compare that to the NBA, which won't post any brawl videos, and went out of its way to have the user-uploader videos deleted from KZbin.

It's unbelievable how wrong the Diamondbacks were in this whole thing. Puig gets hit in the face. Fine. I don't think anyone thought it was intentional, but that doesn't mean you can't retaliate to say, "Hey, don't be wild up and in again!" And it was a fine retaliation. It wasn't up and in, it was right in the back. At this point, it's even (and the D-Backs were dumb to start anything there). Hitting Greinke in the head?! It's shocking how far over the line that was, especially after everything was just evened up. The D-Backs caused this entire thing.
@JTDutch11 жыл бұрын
... Actually, the Dodgers started it by intentionally hitting Montero. Puig getting hit was an accident. There's no need to "avenge" an accident. It's not like Puig was seriously hurt; he stayed in the game. But once Montero was hit on purpose, the D-Backs rightfully nailed Greinke on purpose. The Dodgers reaped what they had sown, if you ask me. And, I'm saying this as a longtime Dodger fan who knows "the Code" and all of that other garbage.
@phoneAntics10 жыл бұрын
J.T. Dutch i don't care how old your post is, you're wrong so I'm telling you about it. It's frowned upon by your teammates to not retaliate in that situation. They hit your star in the face, as a pitcher it's a silent obligation to respond. Standard decorum in baseball... There's absolutely no reason for the Dbacks to be upset, they brought that on themselves, and SINCE WHEN is getting hit on the back so terrible that it warrants getting hit in the face... Is Kennedy trying to kill somebody? What a goddamn lunatic.
@JTDutch10 жыл бұрын
