1988 was 1983 in reverse for the Dodgers. During the 1983 Season, the Dodgers took 11 out of the 12 games they played with Philadelphia. But who won the Pennant that season? Philadelphia! During the 1988 Season the New York Mets took 11 of the 12 Regular Season games from the Dodgers. But who won the Pennant that season? You guessed it: THE LOS ANGELES DODGERS!

This was the prequel. Before Game 2 of NLCS, Cone writes an article in New York newspaper trash talking the Dodgers. Lasorda makes copies and posts them all over the Dodgers clubhouse (because yeah, no internet). Dodgers respond by scoring 5 runs off him and chasing him in just 2 innings. Then Cone comes back in Game 6 and throws a complete game. Next day Hershiser throws a complete game to win Game 7. Was a great NLCS.
