DC really said "Why improve infrastructure when you can just tax the shit out of people"

And where are they going to get the money to improve infrastructure? I guess it just appears out of thin air

@@HIDLad001 Out of their own pockets that they've been lining. If government officials had to ACTUALLY show where money is going, many of them would be in the slammer for grand theft.

this is an important first step toward making us cities more safe for all, not just the ones driving trucks.

Give a homeless person $20 to disable the cameras

Idk where you got your info for your graphics from, but I know for a fact that speed cameras and red light cameras are constitutionally illegal in Texas. The few cities that had them up before the ruling were allowed to keep theirs, but (1) no new ones were allowed to be put up and (2) any “fines” issued were unenforceable-basically they can still send you stuff, but you don’t have to pay it or do anything with it.

This comment section is just amazing. Why can’t people just follow traffic laws?

Why couldn’t the Jews just comply with the Nazis oh wait they did and got slaughtered, it ain’t that extreme of course but allowing authoritarianism because you “have nothing to hide/did nothing wrong” doesn’t always work. The cameras aren’t in the best interest of the people they’re in the best interests of the city that’s what people are mad about.

You look and sound like a nerd. There is nothing morally wrong with speeding 5-10mph over the limit, especially when most people are doing it; going under the general speed of motorists is more dangerous than "speeding."

"Pedestrians death made up roughly 40% of traffic related fatalities and this is even more if you include those who ride bikes and scooters".... no way really? Is it also even higher if you include people who drive cars? Who would have thought adding non pedestrians to the pedestrian fatalities would raise their number. Shocking video More seriously if people would learn to drive without going so fast above the speed limit the cameras would not be a "nuisance". The issue is learned behaviour and the lack in coverage. Make the coverage more universal and if needed lower the infraction rate until people get more used to follow rules. Then increase back the cost for those who disrepect the safety of everyone. When I was young my insurance company placed a gps in my car and was giving me weekly report of when/where I would accelerate too fast or brake too fast as this is dangerous and increase risk of accident. It helped me learn to be more safe and they would give me a discount up to 25% when I was driving safely. Now the gps is gone and I still drive safely and always keep room to brake slowly/safely.

My understanding is that speed cameras work for most drivers. The nice part is they don't add points to your license ( in Canada ) because they don't know who was driving. Get used to them, they are here to stay.

right up until they are not profitable. Once self-driving cars become compelled by insurance, the speed camera business will vanish.

DC traffic is crazy. It's why my grandparents took the metro and rode bikes so much when they lived there. Good video
