Araushnee and Corelon had a third child, one who didn't follow their mother into exile. She's the goddess of grief and vigilance. I forget her name, begins with a V. She mostly appears as a middle aged dark elf and has an unknown relationship with her siblings.

Great video, and summation of the lore. Your channel is excellent. One small quibble though is that Aerdrie Faenya was only associated with Akadi during 4e I believe, and (rightly if you ask me) since then there has been no reference to them being the same deity. Without going into edition wars, I would just offer my opinion that it pays to be skeptical of 4th edition lore changes. If I am wrong my apologies, but I do think it makes sense to differentiate the two.
@RichesandLiches7 ай бұрын
You are correct, I did a whole video on Akadi that went into a lot of those retcons. If you have not seen it, here is the link - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWPWfHdrnZWJeac Thanks for the feedback!

I wonder if they’ll change/update/retcon much of the lore with the new books coming. I heard that greyhawk is being presented as an example in the world building section. Great work as always! Hey my name is on the list! Other people should add theirs to the list.

What list?
@ashb80367 ай бұрын
@@KS-PNW The supporters that use the system to give a bit every month. But I think he allows people to join for free. Starts with a Pat. My comments have been deleted in the past by the algorithm. I have not been asked by Rich in any way but I really do think that he puts out amazing content and want to support his endeavours. I just never noticed that my name on the list for anyone that I regularly support so it was cool to actually notice. I always assume that the lists shown are only for people that are kicking in a bunch. I dunno, I’m rambling. But the TLDR (too late if you got this far) is that I think the time, effort, thought and honesty (being upfront with errors and corrections) is uncommon and the quality of his work is top notch. So like, share, sub and support if you can. Again this is completely unsolicited and just my personal opinion.

Personally, the part that makes this seem more just elvish myth then actually history, is that half these people are supposed to be greater deities at the time… yet seem to go marching around more like mere level 20-30 adventurers, then the earth shaking deities that should make them. While “power level” ain’t everything, if a duel to the death between two greater deities isn’t at LEAST raising/destroying a mountain range or two, or they even really fighting? Most of the acts depicted in the legend sound hardly even on the level of a demigod.🤷♂️

I really don’t get why she has done all of this. You don’t go from what sounds like a pretty wholesome diety to doing more treachery than Starscream overnight.
@nathanaelthomas92437 ай бұрын
Yeah I’m on the same page as you. In my game, I treat the four Elven goddesses more as daughters of Corellon so Lolth isn’t his wife. I made Sehanine the captain of Corellon’s armies and his constant bragging about her and obvious favoritism drove a wedge between him and Lolth who ran the court politics, dealt with the needs of the people, and was responsible for much of the war time strategy and espionage. She started to resent Sehanine for getting all the attention for she felt she was just as worthy of praise based on her roll. She thought Corellon shallow and stupid failing to realize that it was her strategy that enabled Sehanine to be so successful and that she basically had been taking effective control of the kingdom since Corellon was leaving all the responsibilities of running the kingdom to her. I had her fall in love with a young prince from another pantheon (Gruumsh) and plot with him to overthrow Corellon for his crimes against the prince and his ineffectiveness. She really felt she deserved to be Queen and would do a better job. She turned many of the Elves’ hearts against their creator, persuading them that she cared for them more and she helped lead a rebellion that coincided with an invasion of Gruumsh and his army. She sabotaged Corellon’s sword and plotted with Gruumsh to have the prince challenge him to a one-on-one duel to end the war. Corellon knew he was the better sword fighter so he agreed, but his blade broke under the rage-filled swings of Gruumsh. Only Sehanine discovered the treachery before it was too late and she interjected into the fight saving Corellon’s life and helping to defeat Gruumsh and drive his forces away. During this duel is when Corellon cut Gruumsh’s eye and his taunting of the young prince is what fueled his rage enough to break the blade. Sehanine was going to kill Lolth when Elistraee threw herself on her sister’s body begging her to spare her life and all the Elves who rebelled. Corellon agreed and, in secret, Elistraee left with them so she could be a light for these people and reunite the Elves. Sehanine found out and tried to stop her, but she was persuaded and the two said their goodbyes. Sehanine gave Elistraee her moonblade on that day and the Dark Dancer now gifts it to an Elf (one of my PCs) every generation to fight the forces of evil that threaten their people. It’s a sentient magic weapon that allows the wielder to commune with all the previous wielder a during their Elven trance, kinda like Avatar.

@@nathanaelthomas9243 Oh this is great. I think I will use large chunks of this in my campaigns, once I run in Faerun again.
@bonzobuttjr55487 ай бұрын
It’s funny this came out while I am in the middle of a campaign centered around using a redeemed shard of loth to revive arusheene and return her to her peaceful beautiful glory. From my own research I have found that she was actually upset with corellon because he in reality had little love for his elven children and had become neglectful of her and his mortal followers. The elves were enslaved by dragons and on the verge of extinction after coming to the prime material world and corellon had chosen to abandon them in favor of his own passions and desires which excluded trees, fornication and music. He proved to be unfaithful to her and his followers. This is what borough about her fall and betrayal. The video was fantastic as always but it drips with the false propaganda of the sun elves and their refusal to acknowledge their fathers Hubris. He would go on to punish the dark elves later known as drow for burning the forest during the crown wars but he would leave the sun elves alone after flooding the other forests destroying them and Turning them into profane swamps and bogs that served as gate ways to parts of the abyss. The drow may have enlisted the help of demons to fight in the crown wars but the sun elves where more then happy to make deals with devils and summon them to fight on their side so who really was the villain.

You are 100% accurate about the bias! In case you are not aware, not only do i agree with your comments, but i spoke often about it in the crown wars video that preceeded this one (link below) and I plan to expand on that as I close out my coverage of the drow and lolth (likely 2 more videos to come on the subject).
