"Long lived" - Tortles live for 50 years, even humans live longer
@Rookzer0 Жыл бұрын
If they are anything like tortoises the average lifespan is much shorter than their their max age. I think 50 doesn't make sense for people or turtles I always assumed a typo of 500 years.

Dude, nothing beats the day my GM allowed me to play as an Eldritch Horror from another dimension. I convinced him that I lost all my Old One powers and would only get them back if I became a "true hero". Took the idea from the game "Cthulhu Saves the World", which is a really fun and enjoyable RPG. By the way, the rest of the party was just as crazy: A former slave monkey man (think Wukong from League of Legends) who had his mouth sewed for unknown reasons and couldn't speak, a centaur druid who could only transform the human side as he wasn't a true centaur and a devil who had to sacrifice his horse at the beginning, only to have it turned into the centaur controlled by the other player. Boy, it was one hell of a game.

I made a tortle, that's part Shadow Monk, part Draconic Bloodline Scorcerer so he grows giant, turns invisible, and breaths lightning while basically blocking the door making people think the bard who is besties with this turtle who can grow into an invisible ancient dragon sized monster is a lv 30 wizard through various illusions and bluffs. High level campaigns are the best for character building.
@Rookzer05 жыл бұрын
That seems like the proper use of a large tortle! Definitely need to get a good Kaiju battle in there somewhere.
@samanbouniady5 жыл бұрын
@@Rookzer0 we will get one at the end, the bbeg is an ancient red dragon. Which I plan on suplexing in my enlarged state because he's a weapon less fighter with spells that I reflavor to be more breath attacks [namely lightning bolt], and in his normal state it normal breaths normal lightning breath attacks with stupid high AC from Monk, Sorcerer AND race features.

@@Rookzer0 The dragon was shocked, suplexed, flanked, and robbed of his dignity. I’m pretty new to D&D, and I’ve been making an informal list of races and classes I most want to play. I’m not sure I’d want to play a tortle in a full campaign, but the more I see of them the more I think I want to try one out in a one-shot. I much prefer magic casters like bards, sorcerers and wizards but I think a tortle would be great to test something like a fighter, druid, or cleric-classes I’m interested in but not as much as the other aforementioned ones. I particularly think a tortle druid or tortle cleric could be something interesting to play in a one-shot.
@Rookzer05 жыл бұрын
Yeah I Think they definitly have something special to bring to the table. Get out there and try something. I could see a Plant druid Tortle that Grows things on his back being really fun. A small Island turtle.... Oh the possibilities! Let me know if you ever build one out and get to play 'em.
@OpenBiolabsGuy2 жыл бұрын
Paying a Tortle Wizard or Sorcerer definitely makes your magic user more survivable. How many wizards have 17 AC at level 1? Think about it, you can actually survive linger as a wizard.
@theraven58504 жыл бұрын
Tortles make the best druids and barbarians. Both those classes can't wear heavy metal armor and tend to have low AC. As a tortle, that class weakness is overcome by the race.

Personally, I don't see tortles as being large. Large means you're 10+ feet to your longest dimension. While a 10-ft tall Tortle does sound cool, it definitely doesn't feel like it should be default. They feel like medium sized creatures to me.
@Rookzer04 жыл бұрын
That's a fair way to look at it. I've always looked at is as if your width is wider than 5ft you should take up more than one square. Like with a heavy horse or so forth. As is dnd, you're game your rules and as long as its fun. :)
@GreenLanternCorps28144 жыл бұрын
@@Rookzer0 that is also a fair way to look at it. However, 5 ft wide is quite big. mawr just have different mental images of what a tortle should be. Though you did mention TMNT, and they definitely seemed like medium-sized to me!

Rookzer0 Good video. I guess I should also mention non-basking water turtles like sea turtles, snapping turtles and matamatas are pretty slow as well. But the baskers like sliders, cooters and softshells can run pretty fast. I studied herpetology under a tortoise expert and I’ve seen a masters thesis presentation on ornate box turtles. This knowledge, and the knowledge from your video, will prove handy when I make Franklin Ornata, the old forgetful tortle wild magic sorceror with an affinity for butterscotch candy. 😁😁😁🐢🐢🐢
