Great video. Greetings from Halifax. My dad, a Spitfire pilot, sailed from here in early 1944.

Canada House has always reminded me of Macdonald House, which is a significant landmark in Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia. The Lawrencetown just to the East of Cole Harbour, that is. Although no scene of WWII combat, nearby Jeddore was pinpointed as a possible landing site for amphibious raids by forces of the Central Powers in WWI. Allied ships were torpedoed in the Halifax Approaches in WWII, so it was a battle front at the end of the day. Macdonald House was completed in 1949 on a grassy headland with a commanding view. Just in time for the broad sunlit uplands. Lest we forget.

Thank you for this HH. I too started my life journey in Halifax, and it took me to Juno beach as a 5th year student in 1983. Thank you dear friend for telling the story of my countrymen's contribution to D-Day and the liberation of Europe.

In de streets behind that house, you can still see tank tracks on the road from D-Day. And not far from that house their was a "pleasure" house for the German soldiers. I truly enjoy your videos. I would like a France tour from you and this marks the beginning i hope. So many stories in normandie alone. I'm from Holland and have been going their voor more than 20 years and every year i find something new.

Great video My father in law was with the 1st Can parachute Battalion they jumped several hours before the boats. Airborne Parachute's main business was to protect the east flank so that nobody could come across the river. He was captured 3 days after dday with 8 others they got cutoff in a field and had to surrender. They sent them to Paris and were put on box cars and sent to place called Mulberg on the River Elbe at the age of 16 He loved to talk about it and i never got tired of the stories.

The Canadians gave so much, the Dieppe raids took so many. Trained initially for defensive roles in the uk, they ended up on the sharp end and suffered many losses.

The Canadians were a vital part during WW2 . They were very courageous and suffered many casualties. I really enjoyed this video very much. I'm pleased that the house has been restored and is still standing. If only some of the bunkers we've visited had been saved for history's sake but government people don't think as we do. We wish to preserve history so it's not repeated and they just want to destroy it. 😢 I love the way you took us all the way to Canada and back to the Eastern Front. This was a fantastic video. You are a wonderful story teller. I hope you are better and I wish Eagle Eyes a speedy recovery. Take care and stay safe. 💖💯
