@China-The Center Of The World 😐也是對的!
Hydrogen fuel cell is a good alternative to electric car because of its very fast recharge/refill time, and high energy density. However, the main problem is to find a source of hydrogen that is cheap enough to use. Using electrolysis to generate hydrogen is WAY too expensive, and is not practical. Some industries may be able to generate hydrogen as a by-product to keep the cost down. But that is not enough to support a "hydrogen economy". Currently the most cost effective hydrogen source is extracting the hydrogen from natural gas. Two problems immediately come up: (1) Natural gas is not exactly green and won't fix global warming problem. (2) Using natural gas to make hydrogen is still not cheap enough as a way to replace the use of gasoline. That's probably the real reason why cars that use hydrogen fuel cells are not popular. The hope is that some models of 4th generation nuclear power plants that are currently being developed/researched can create a very high temperature, and the high temperature are very useful in breaking down water molecule into hydrogen (in addition to provide heat and generate electricity). When those 4th generation nuclear power plants become reality, the cost of hydrogen will come down, and hydrogen fuel cell will become practical. Because China is very active in doing research in 4th generation nuclear power plants, I won't be surprised that China is also active in developing hydrogen fuel cell technology. They complement each other. The Down side is that 4th generation nuclear power plants are still at least one decade away from now. The Up side is that there will be enough time for young people to get into this nuclear/hydrogen related industries.

maybe 4th nuclear power plants need guidance from Mars c creature.China is doing this because of having launched Mars rover named zhurong.LOL
The application of hydrogen fuel cells may be quite available on trucks for long-mileage transportation. Battery for buses and cars are quite OK for daily use. The fuel cell module life span is short, maybe half of the battery packs. Battery packs can last more than 8 years to have more than 70-80% capacity. The disadvantage is the pollution generated during battery production, and the cost to recycle them. China is walking on both legs, but obviously, BEV is the mainstream. The battery has formed the economy, and contains CATL and BYD, and all the players in this business. As for fuel cell, China has almost conquered all the parts to be produced in China, till then, the cost will certainly be much lower. When can we see so many hydrogen cars as many EV as now on our roads? I don't know...

main reason is energy efficiency. Battery car could archive 80%. The best hydrogen car can not reach 50%. Plus used battery could be used as energy storage for the grid and hydrogen car cost still much higher than battery car.
