Tutorial Steps for Ankle Taping:
1. Prepare Your Ankle: Clean the skin thoroughly and ensure it’s dry. Optionally, cover any cuts or blisters with a sterile dressing.
2. Apply Underwrap (Optional): Use a pre-wrap or underwrap like Fixomull tape to protect the skin and ease tape removal.
3. Anchor the Tape: Place the first strip of tape around your shin, just above the ankle, ensuring it’s snug but not too tight.
4. Create Stirrups: Start from the medial side of the ankle, wrap under the heel, and up to the lateral side. Repeat this to form three stirrups, overlapping each strip slightly.
5. Close the Pre-wrap: Cover the pre-wrap completely with tape to ensure stability.
6. Figure 8 Pattern: Start from the inside, wrap around the lower leg, cross over the top of the ankle, and continue under the arch, creating a figure 8.
7. Heel Lock: Wrap the tape around the heel to secure it, alternating between inside and outside, performing two heel locks per side.
8. Final Figure 8: Repeat the figure 8 pattern to reinforce the support.
9. Secure the Tape: Finish with another anchor strip to lock everything in place. Check for comfort and adjust if necessary.
