@@JoaoVitor-xy2my I wish D5 had an easier way to create a foliage wall. So I ended up using the Ivy assets they have available in the library. There are a few variations and options that can work for a small-sized project like the one I used. In terms of final rendering quality, would you rate it above Vray?
@LearnUpstairs Жыл бұрын
That's a bit subjective still. Because if you give someone a 10 hour window to produce a set of images with D5 and then Vray. Time is a major factor in image creation, which gives the edge to D5. But then if there's no time limit and you can perfect the settings as much as possible on Vray, and get access to high-quality textures and assets... then maybe Vray still wins it. They are different types of rendering engines, so that's not a direct comparison.

I still think that the typical rendering engines are superior in output quality. But idk if it should be compare to real-time engines are they are a different category of software. For a reference, each one of these images shown in the video took around 2 minutes to render in 4k. And that wouldn’t be the case in Corona or Vray. More quality and slower renderings VS slightly lower quality but super fast renderings

Sure with some extra quality in the process, but also requiring much more tinkering on the settings to achieve the desired result. It's about seeing what makes more sense for your specific workflow as there are no wrong or right choices here.

Do you mean if you're not using the D5 asset library? Well, then there are numerous websites that provide 3d models. Some paid, some free. I often rely on Sketchup 3D Warehouse to find interesting models. The trick is on the words you use to search it because there are a ton of useless things there. You need to dig a lot to find models, but once you do, they can be quite good! Another option that is more of a local website here in Brazil is the one called CASOCA. The website will be in Portuguese, but it has a lot of good stuff! And it's all curated so it's always good quality.

@shynnsup83835 ай бұрын
@@LearnUpstairs I haven't noticed any big different in terms of light and shadows. The sky model is practically the same. With D5 making really unrealistic pixelated clouds that like like brushstrokes... not sure what is up with that. There is also not option for water displacement either while Enscape has a nice water preset. I don't think D5 is a proper real time engine. All they have done is automatized the export function. You gotta export your scene every time into D5 and it takes ages. Every single change you make in your scene, you gotta click 'synchronize live updates' otherwise it does not update. With big models it actually can take minutes to update the scene. Under the hood they are re-exporting the entire scene all over again. The integration with Rhino is also terrible. For instance the render window does not stay on top of your Rhino window. Also, all rhino objects get grouped into a single one inside D5 unless you have previously assigned individual materials to each, basically forcing you to assign materials twice: once inside Rhino and the other inside D5. I can actually use Grasshopper to scatter Enscape trees and lights, so it is really not a big deal either.

D5 had perceptual license before,right? now I checked and its subsription, its really a shame D5 also try to be like subscription based companies after first getting attention by perceptual license... So thats one of the reasons I wont prefer it. The people who bought it before perceptual license is gone, are lucky really. So, its really sad that they dont give users a option to choose perceptual license with limited 1-2 year update while also allowing for subcription models as well so people can decide which one to use, its not that hard to make perceptual licenses to have limited update years then making people pay less amount to update after 1-2 year, that should be a nice way, thats why I ll prefer epic games all the way because they are not like other companies who seem money-focused by subscription model. Actually it doesnt make difference, Its simple, if they sell monthly, its total price for 2 year update is similar to other softwares perceptual price, so its equal profit to 2 year subscription, and probably people will wanna upgrade it later by paying again with half amount to not miss new features or they can choose to stick with old feature if they are in a unstable condition to renew license to upgrade. So it wouldnt be a big profit issue if they put limit to upgrades but it just make user feel like he didnt lend the software and gives more motivation. So its really sad to see that D5 didnt turn out different.

No offense, but when oliver did a video about lumion being able to render in isometric views i just couldn't understand, even at the time. It's been years now and d5 render and twinmotion literally killed lumion. Whoever it's still using that shit is simply behind in the industry innovations. For oliver, better late than ever. And i still think twinmotion and unreal will be the kings of archviz in 5-10 years, even d5 will become more niched. As for the casual architect, sketchup + free render engine + enhancer AI will do the job for little to no price and much less time consuming (both learning and doing)
@LearnUpstairs Жыл бұрын
No offense taken! It’s all part of the game. You know… Sometimes I need to look at a software update and compare it only to its previous version. This is so I can speak to that specific audience that is going to keep using the same software and is not necessarily looking for the best and greatest engine available. That specific video about isometric in Lumion that you’re mentioning was my first video of Lumion. I had to start somewhere, right? Introducing a new program (new to me at that time) isn’t that easy. Everyone has different opinions as you can see in this comment section and on other videos as well. So it’s not up to me to impose and dictate what is the best solution for all architects around the world. But I do appreciate a strong opinion like yours! It takes the discussion to another path.
