This episode was so good and Dabi just going completely psychotic was so creepy but obviously he’s not wrong in wanting revenge on endeavor. However the harm of his siblings isn’t good. I can’t wait for when the todoroki family discuss this reveal. Like the drama is gonna be so juicy.

Dabis reveal isn’t really supposed to be a shock for the audience in my opinion, it’s HOW the reveal was executed that’s supposed to get the audience shocked and hyped. It’s just a super tense moment in this series that shocks everyone!! Also dabis flash fire fist, prominence burn would have definitely turned shoto, endeavour and even Dabi himself into ash being as those two moves put together would be super powerful and the fact that dabis flames are blue too. So glad best jeanist came in at the end!!

I think what actually started Endeavor's change wasn't that he became Number One, it was how it was given too him. He was basically the next in line, he never "beat" All Might no matter what he tired and that forced him to reflect more then anything. That scene where Shoto is seeing him rage in his training room saying "not like this" kind of pops up in my mind. All the stuff he did to finally get there and it's just given too him. All Might's words were the true starting point for him to make the effort to change because he started to think about something bigger then himself for once.

There are practically no words that can be said about this episode. Which is to say I still intend to do an analysis regardless. Let’s get into it. Let’s start with Shigaraki. We have NO idea who is in control. Shigaraki defies AFO, but AFO is controlling some of the quirks to minimize the pain so he doesn’t fall apart. It’s…beyond confusing. It’s why many manga readers call him AFS. (All For Shigaraki) It’s not at all easy to sort out. But it’s meant to be that way. We saw Shigaraki and AFO’s vestige last episode. It’s not one or the other, it’s them morphed into one. They CAN override each other but it’s both ways not one way like you’d assume. Deku and Bakugo are SERIOUSLY hurt. As hurt as I’d say they are, I’d still say Deku is more injured. I pointed out the places Bakugo was hit don’t look as vital as they seem. His shoulder, appendix area, and leg. He CAN bleed out and him thrashing around like an idiot is not at ALL smart but Bakugo gotta Bakugo. Deku shouldn’t be able to MOVE with how blown up his arms are. While his bone damage SHOULD be lesser per punch now that he maintains 45%, he still let loose MANY punches so it should be PRETTY CLOSE to the arm dysfunction level. We got Uraraka and Toga. I thought the fight was fun. Now it’s not quite clear what Uraraka did, but I think she spread her float to things she had already touched to things she hadn’t like Shigaraki does with Decay. (And I can’t even BEGIN to praise just how big it is Uraraka’s quirk evolves the same way as another 5-finger touch quirk) Throw it in with other gravity rules she breaks and it’s REALLY up there in overall quirk levels. (Top 3 if you ask me with ties, and top 5 without them) I don’t necessarily understand what Uraraka’s GOAL was with the move but it makes the most sense to seriously limit Toga’s movement which is the biggest problem for people. She HAD touched Toga prior, but it also demonstrates she was deciding if she wanted to use quirk energy on the fight instead of saving people. (So she can CHOOSE when it effects as well now so that’s ALSO huge.) There is the morality fight of Toga’s Renfield’s syndrome and Uraraka being a HSP. (Hyper-sensitive person. People with bloated emotions. They feel emotions much stronger than others. It’s like being an empath but without the sensing in others.) Uraraka actually taking the time to answer Toga’s questions and demanding she take responsibility for her feelings and choices is a genuine answer. Uraraka has done the same with her evolution of care for Deku. And Toga sees it as a rejection of her side letting her emotions go wild in contrast. Toga’s deepest anchors are more familial rather than romantic. And her endless pursuit of it the way she does will never get anywhere. And what she seeks isn’t what she demands. It’s…weird but we DEFINITELY aren’t meant to understand it. Next we got the Dabi reveal. This…was excellent. We ALL could’ve figured who Dabi was QUITE easily. But it’s HOW he makes his move that just knocks it out of the park. It’s not the surprise of who he is, it is what changes so thoroughly for the understanding of the public, AND the Todoroki’s. I’ve never seen Endeavor happier showing Toya…Touya (take your pick.) how to use fire. The reveal of the family past, the reveal of what Hawks did to Twice and Best Jeanist, the reveal he quite literally survived from presumed ashes. And the curious state of his hair. (It is a continuity fix from the anime, but to call THAT much attention to it has peaked my interest in other reasons. Like the 2nd and 3rd OFA holders not being designed for their silhouettes in the vestige world turning into a COMPLETELY different reason.) 2,000°C is over 3,600°F as a KID which is ALREADY over halfway to Endeavor’s hottest fire in Season 4 which is around 5,000°F with atmosphere reentry topped with his 2,000° fires as a low ball. Imagine him NOW. (I just ballpark to double Endeavor’s greatest fire to 10,000°F to make it simple for myself.) It’s all so dang much. And I LOVE the way it was animated. This is EVERYTHING to the hero world. Best Jeanist is BACK. Somehow. It’s the biggest wrench in Dabi’s reveal. Now Endeavor isn’t the only one with damaged lungs fighting. Good for him. And he’s gunning for capturing MACHIA. And THAT has to be the strongest fiber EVER to go for that move. What a great episode. It’s a LOT to process, but things need to sink in more. What breaks and what stays fixed is ALL on the line here.

You have to remember. Endeavor didn't become the No. 1 hero in the way that he wanted. His vision was either beating All Might himself or Shoto beating All Might. Endeavor changed when he fought that Nomu in Season 4. He saw himself in that Nomu, endlessly hungry for power. And by burning it, he decided to also burn his past ego/pride. Even Deku felt a new aura from Endeavor in Season 5 upon meeting him again.

There is something to be said about the fact that Endeavor never actually reached his goal. He was angry when All Might was forced to retire. He wanted to EARN the top spot, not get it handed to him by the top guy leaving and he tells All Might as much. The #1 spot is now a burden for him to bear and in being forced to accept that all his effort amounted to his goal being forever taken from him, he also realizes that he’s caused so much damage to his family for literally no reason now. It was never for a good reason but now the reason is gone altogether. Now he couldn’t make excuses to himself about what he did and he was forced to accept the horror of what he did and that, along with his talk with All Might, came with genuine regret. Even when he talked to All Might he mentioned that he’s been working harder than ever and crime was still going up and people don’t trust him as #1. He can’t prove himself to be the best anymore but he’s still working harder than he ever has as a hero because he accepts the responsibility without any of the benefit or prize and for the same reason he’s looking to be a better father. He doesn’t want anything from his family, he wants to do all he can FOR them. He never even spares a thought to the consequences of Toya being a villain and exposing him. He just cares about his son that her mourned and blamed himself for the death of.

I'm not sure why the public would need to know that, other than it benefits them by helping them decide if he's perhaps a trustworthy individual, if not just a trustworthy hero. But then I'm not sure if that qualifies as a "need" in the first place. Also, Dabi's retelling is an intentional misdirection. For all of Endeavor's terrible actions toward his family, Dabi was exploiting that to the public by weaving it and other information into a particular narrative against hero society. I would hope that everyone would remember that Dabi was still being dishonest about how he contextualized his family issues, even when he provided factual information.

Is pretty heartbreaking. 16:33 The thing with toga is that her quirk is heavily centered around the blood of others. That combined with her love of seeing things bloody as cute, makes her obsessed about it. And since her ability gives her the power to become the person who’s blood she drinks. In her mind she can become the closest thing possible to someone she likes by literally being them. It’s something she’s had since she was young. And unfortunately no one ever tried to understand her, and try and teach and untangle her mixed up mind. That maybe there could be a better way to go about things. Instead they just told her to stop being who she was and put on a mask and repress herself. To be normal. Until that eventually blew up as it does. Metinotthebadguy did a wonderful video on Himiko Toga and how her looks and personality match a certain culture in Japan and bisexuality. You should check it out.

Dabi is right, "The past never dies" and eventually you have to answer for your crimes. You can' just pretend that the past doesn't exists and hope it washes away. Events like this leave scars that may never heal and Dabi is a shining example of that. This reminds me of Falling Down by Drowning Pool (first heard in DBZ Cooler's Revenge): "Don't you lie to me cause, I'm not blind you see" "The lessons that you teach create the hate in me" "I'm not scared to say that I won't be that way" "We're all the same, but there's always a price to pay" .... "It's when you speak to me" "Cause hates not born, you see" "It's pride you scream with bigot eyes too blind to see" "Your frame of mind's outdated" "Narrow opinions faded" "Would you like to meet this monster that you've created" Dabi's revenge against Endeavor justified. However, dragging, hurting, and killing innocent people including your siblings and your younger brother (who was put through hell by their father) because your pissed off at Daddy Dearest is not justified. That tells you have fixated on Endeavor Dabi is, and the lengths he will go to hurt Endeavor emotionally, mentality, and physically. Until he is as broken as his son or burning together hand in hand as they venture to the Gates of Tartarus.

I don't think that's entirely fair, regarding Dabi's statement about the past. To be more precise, Endeavor didn't pretend that the past didn't exist. He made multiple attempts to reconcile with his family up to this point, and even decided that he'd have to live away from his family (at least for the time being) in order to atone for his past actions. Those are indications that he acknowledged the past and was trying to do something about it. Plus he thought Touya was dead this whole time, so there wasn't much Endeavor could have previously done with regard to taking responsibility for the Dabi villain problem.

Toga is being rather hypocritical by complaining about Hawks killing Twice. For one thing they keep saying without hesitation but Hawks tried several times to take Twice alive but was backed into a corner. More importantly they signed up to fight a war and war has causalities. Toga herself talked about all the chaos they would cause. People would die, far more than who would die here. There were some good points about suppressing your urges only makes them worse. While I wouldn't view it so black and white her quirk does give her the need for blood. Had she explored her quirk in a healthy way she might not of turned out like this. She needs to take blood to use her quirk, she doesn't need to take lives.

Ochaco really made me annoyed/ upset in this episode Had she choosen her words ''wisely; she could have won over Toga. But she was being somewhat selfish, and not looking at it in Toga POA. She says she wants to help people, but than her's Toga actually standing infront of her needing 'help' and answers and she turns her away. Basically making it like no one is allowed to make mistakes. That because Toga has a different perspective, she isn't human enough to save. Even though Toga was trying to understand the Hero's side. Ochaco was NOT trying to understand her side.

Based on what I saw of the family flashbacks that follow this reveal, I don't think it was entirely Endeavor's fault. I actually think Touya was also responsible for his own demise on that peak, even though he was also/also felt neglected by his parents.

I don't think what Dabi said about Endeavor's motivation for trying to reconcile with his family is true. Much like his scripted message to the world, I think it's just another misrepresentation of facts for Dabi's benefit. I mean, Endeavor's new role as #1 Hero hasn't been particularly beneficial to him. He took up that role while crime was starting to increase, trust in hero society was starting to wane, and while all of these villains were amassing incredible power and coming out of the woodwork enacting their plans. Plus, he already wasn't well-liked by citizens when he was #2. And he had that conversation with All Might about being a symbol of peace because he understood that their society lost that, and he didn't know what to do about it. I think all of those factors created a burden that he was forced to bear, and if he acquired any benefit from becoming the #1 hero, then it was overshadowed by that burden. Also, I'm just gonna say it: *As much as I acknowledge that Dabi's been afflicted by personal trauma, he does not have moral authority here, and I certainly don't think he has any more moral authority than Endeavor does. I think I could actually argue that Endeavor has more moral authority, at least when it comes to being a hero in hero society. That distinction is important, because Dabi's goal was to exploit his family issues in a larger effort to undermine the moral authority of hero society. I have to question why the civilians would let someone with seemingly less moral authority than most heroes trick them (by rhetorical and emotional manipulation) into believing that hero society has lost its own moral authority.*

Endeavor was undermined morally in every way in the public’s eyes by the revelation of what he did to his family regardless of what he did as a hero. The public never started seeing Dabi as having a moral high ground, he just simply showed Endeavor (the number one hero) to be an incredibly shitty person on a live stage.

Dabi was clearly juxtaposing his family issues with other specific claims like Hawks's own family information, and Hawks killing Twice and Best Jeanist, in order to present a broader narrative about flaws in hero society that he wanted the public to perceive. It's important to note that he claimed that people connected to Endeavor are the same, yet in total, he only brought up two examples in order to undermine the public's confidence in hero society as a whole. And at the start of that broadcast, Dabi led with the claim that he killed 30 or more people while also questioning the idea that he was a villain and scapegoating his father for his actions. After that battle (and before Endeavor, Hawks, and Best Jeanist followed up with the press on any of Dabi's claims), there was an increase in public anger toward Endeavor and Hawks, and apparently hero society in general. Remember, Dabi only provided two heroes as out-of-context examples of hero society's corruption, while also downplaying his own criminal actions, yet public anger toward heroes increased after Dabi's broadcast. In order for the public to believe what Dabi claimed without providing evidence in the broadcast, I think they would've had to accept that he had some moral authority regarding the issues at hand. Why would they otherwise be persuaded by someone who led with the claim that he killed more than 30 people? Also, the fact that he scapegoated his dad for his criminal actions indicates that he intended to get the public to believe that his own criminal actions are not his fault, and that he's a victim of his father's actions. That implies that he had more authority than Endeavor, which isn't true.
