@seamusin1697
@seamusin1697 5 жыл бұрын
@@jorgemartin5093It sounded deeper and more weathered but certainly not bad. I would even say it lent a certain degree of character to this performance. The original recording sounds like the tender reflections of a young man who has been touched by the love of someone and is thinking about their relationship together. This version makes me think more of a wistful older middle aged man reminiscing about someone from his past when he was younger who may no longer be in his life in one form or another but has undoubtedly had a great impact upon him. His voice sounds rugged at points here but that adds to the notion that he, the man in this song, has been transformed through time and experience. A beautiful song and nice performance by Lake nevertheless even with any differences in his voice.

This song has been stuck in my head ever since inheriting my late brother’s Stratocaster. I received the guitar just a few days ago. He passed in early December. We never knew each other, I was given up for adoption at birth, yes..I am the oldest of three sons. We were scheduled to all meet last December, but mental illness robbed us of that chance. The one thing that ran through all three of us, was the love of playing guitar. To my late brother David, and to Sean who I finally met in Oakland last Tuesday, I love you both, and barely know either, but our love for the guitar will always bring us closer..From The Beginning. RIP Greg..RIP David Lampton.

Today's music just cannot do what this music did. There was something truly mind expanding and communal about it. Perhaps it was the nature of the kind of drugs popular then. Today's music and drugs are all about "me, myself and mine". I wonder if the music of those golden moments between 67 and 74 will ever repeat in the future. I understsand it was all a byproduct of the times. The social-revolution. The youth movement. The war. The evolution of rock and pop music that the world has never seen before, but. I hope that music isn't lost to us forever. A day will come when there will be very few of us who will either beable to recall it or even say they have even heard of it. I only hope that music finds a way to be as expansive and open as the music of that era. Are there any real movements left to be had?
