To be honest, I love that he is often sceptical about the things you tell him about his life. To me, it shows a man who always takes responsibility for himself, and refuses to let other people take care of his problems. Of course, he is at a point in his life where other people must help take care of his problems, but in his mind, he is and always will be responsible for himself and will not allow anyone to carry his burdens. A man of honour through and through.

You are so patient with your Dad Dan, and that means so much. I'm sure it's tough at times, but your Dad is never mean or upset about anything. He's doing great, getting around etc. When you have to talk louder than usual, it reminds me of my Dad. He lived till he was 96. The only thing wrong was, he was hard of hearing, and he was just "ready to go", as he put it. He missed my Mom so much. You're a good son Dan. That in itself means everything!

I did one to one for 8 months non stop. Slept in the same room , even done washes , toileting everything . It is hard work and at the same time rewarding . Handing over to professional people is hard as well .

I know first hand how hard it is to watch a parent suffer with dementia, but I just want you to know your doing a great job with your dad Dan. You have so much patience and understanding for what he is going through and handle with with such love and kindness. Grandpa Ed is definitely a sweet and caring person overall. Unfortunately skepticism is one of the downfalls and tough issues when dealing with dementia. It’s so hard to see someone you love suffer like that. But you guys are doing a terrific job with your dad. Enjoy each moment with him - even the frustrating ones cause you will miss that one day. Hugs to each of you!❤

My dad used to say id took his hot water bottles , he was always making quirky inventions. One day i took him to the pub and and he crossed his legs and i saw red soles on his shoes . He had resoled his shoes with a cut up water bottle. Haha. When he died that was the one thing i wanted ...My dads own Louis Vuittons. P.S I had the wallet and car talk daily too. x Your dad reminds me so much of mine , on the day he died he asked if i needed anything. x

Dan, this journey through memory loss and dementia is so challenging. It is such a blessing that up until now Ed has been so positive. It truly speaks volumes about his character, and who he has been as a human all his life. It is really endearing. As his memory fails, his brain continues it’s decline, he will not be able to make those connections that made Ed the Ed we have learned to love through your videos. @@carolpasscall5987 I’m so sorry Carol. We lived this journey a couple years ago with my mother-in-law. One thing to remember is that caregivers need caregivers. What our loved ones say and how they act is not who they are, and this is specially hard when we are used for them to be true to who they are. While they still have some of that spark, recording those memories makes a difference later on. With care 🌷

This disease can affect people so differntly. I know some of my friends their folks with dementia are mean and combative all the time. Bless Ed’s heart, he reminds me of the movie Fifty First Dates , where she had to be told everyday who her family was, who she was married to.

My heart goes out to all of those involved ❤ my mom had stroke induced dementia for the last several years of her life and I know how challenging & difficult caregiving is, as well as empathizing for the loved one struggling with this awful disease...which is now one of my greatest fears😢 i would not wish this on anyone! It is so hard on the family!
