i have had three family members suffer with it. they are making advancements on slowing it down when caught soon enough. they also have linked some forms to hearing loss. some forms are caused by blockages in the brain. it is a great concern because its so common in my family. all three suffered with hearing loss prior to the symptoms setting in. all three had different symptoms.the one diagnosed with Alzheimer's, wad by far the worse.

Yes, these videos are wonderful eye openers and Dan & Danielle are great role models. I found in caring for my mother that it's all about acceptance. It's hard to give up the denial that we'd gone from having a high functioning parent who used to know more than we do, to "parenting" our parent! When I finally accepted that mom had regressed to early childhood basically, I was able to relax and go with the flow. The "patience" required came from knowing that our conversations would be repetitive and boring. My impatience was that I'd rather be doing something else. But I knew that she was patient with me as a young child so I could do it too. As we rode in the car, she repeated every 5 minutes, "aren't the clouds pretty?" or "boy there sure are a lot of silver cars on the road these days". Mom passed 14 yrs ago but my sister and I often chuckle and tease each other with "those sure are beautiful clouds" - we shared caring for mom and miss her.

Your father is so sweet and reminds me of my dad. My dad passed two years ago at 94. I literally moved in to dads home to care for him after mom passed. Having the same conversations and repetitive behavior. My dad also had short term memory dementia. I know how tiring and frustrating some days can be.
