Mental health is the black community is such a struggle. You can’t pray depression away & going to a therapist doesn’t make you weak. The way the black community has used the church as our crutch to get us thru has handicapped us as a community. This is why I chose to teach middle schoolers in inner city schools, i start every class with meditation to get them focused & centered. I also don’t do write ups, I walk my students through a guided meditation as a way to get re centered & control their anxiety/temper. My class has had the highest scores in the city on their standardized testing for the last 2 years. We’ve gotta teach our children a better way to self regulate their emotions because if we don’t the prison system will continue to do it for us

Baby FatGirl youre right! But i chose to only speak on shit I know. Mental health is an issue everywhere but my comment was about factors I believe contribute to people not getting the help they need. I’ve never walked in any other races shoes or been submerged in their culture. So i don’t know what causes it in their community; therefore, I didn’t attempt to speak on it. I spoke from my experience as a black woman. If you are of another race; please feel free to contribute your educated opinion about those factors
@babyfatgirl6079

Suicide is the same whether in a black community, white community, asian community etc. Depression kills man. We need to stop segregating ourselves by race and come together. Depression does not segregate by race, in opinion I feel you are using your race to segregate yourself from other races
@burnngpigs
@burnngpigs 5 жыл бұрын
@@babyfatgirl6079 Shes talking about specifically black people because in our culture especially, people who say they are depressed or have mental health problems are almost always seen as weak, while in most other cultures mental health issues are now starting to be recogonized better and treated correctly, but the average black american has to much pride to admit to themselves that they have a mental health problem and that sends them further down a hole, its not a race thing its a culture thing, she never said anything about mental health not being a problem for other races, she could have worded it better but you are still reaching for the race card really hard, its people like you who set us back from progression.

Fact is you can't understand depression unless you've went or are going through it
@mychelleurias7412
@mychelleurias7412 5 жыл бұрын
FACTS . . . I didn't like how several times people who suffer with thoughts of suicide were referred as "WEAK" people. As the one who committed suicide in the song/video, said unless you're in their shoes you can't understand so don't judge. Not everyone has the same kind of positive and/or existing Support System. Not Everyone's journey/experiences are the same. Saying someone is a Weak person whether of suicidal tendencies or for other reasons is a very critical, judgemental, arrogant, insensitive and ignorant statement. Everyone has a breaking point, however some are just more fortunate to have the adequate help they need, intervention at the right time and/or just simply Blessed to have Not been met with those demonic strongholds.

Even talking about it to someone may do nothing for it at all Sometimes all you gotta do is just examine yourself in the issue of depression and/or suicidal thoughts. Depression isn't something you can just switch off so easy Sometimes you can forget about being depressed But there's always that trigger that brings it all back People can suggest many things for you which is OK because you can use what they suggested and go and reflect on all of it in your own time or whenever you feel the need to Depression can make you feel like you're alone in this space of confusion I used to be in deep depression Then I started writing songs/raps at 12 putting every expression I had on paper Over time I had the chance to reflect on the thoughts of my own expressions I'm in my 20s now and I understand everyone copes with depression in their own ways with the speed they're able to cope at. If you're going through depression and for some reason you stumble upon this post Suicide is never the answer to anything Depression is not impossible to get out of, but it can be hard If you're still in depression after so long, find a healthy plan B that'll help you stay happy and cope Plan B = Plan A's best friend forever Stay safe ^U^

I hope everyone gets help if they feel this way. The sad thing is some people don't feel mentally well enough to get the help they need, so they need someone else looking out for them. I think the message for mental health isn't just getting help if you need it, but also keep an eye on your friends and support them when they need it. Great video man. Much respect from a white guy in England.

I had suicidal thought growing up for years. Even after my uncle killed himself when I was in high school, I have still had those thoughts. It is a hard thing to feel like that is the better option, even after seeing what it does to those left behind. It's not as simple as hugging someone, and people who blow it off like that make it worse for the person suffering. It is very much a mental health issue that needs to be spoken about more.

soap box warning: this is a long one ~~~ I appreciate all the points you guys made, your Dad's keen eye and open mind (on the wedding ring thing. I never would've noticed that). A few times the idea was made that suicide is the "easy way out" - or that those who make that choice make it out of weakness. And/or there was (is, in the culture at large) an idea that suicidal people need to "tough it out" a bit more. While I realize no one is being critical with those ideas....I have to say I think a really big point is being missed here - and in our whole society at large. Sure.... a suicidal person COULD toughen up - or let their skin thicken - so that they aren't feeling the pain of whatever they are feeling sensitive to. BUT..... doing that, in a great measure, is a kind of sacrifice, in a way. As in a sacrifice of one's ideals. In other words, there might be two ways to lessen the number of suicides: 1) toughen everybody up so no one hurts from all the harsh aspects of our modern lives, or 2) the culture and society at large could SOFTEN UP!.... so that people aren't subjected to such huge volumes of negative 'toxicity' in our social environment. For me, overall, even if I think strictly objectively, I think our society, and our world, needs to move in the direction of softening up. And it's not just so that there will be less suicide... but because I think that a greater joy and fulfillment - for ALL people - lies in that direction. All our harshness and division and inability to share takes a TOLL on human souls. And, collectively, and individually, I think we all have greater prospects for wholeness, enjoyment of life, and enjoyment of each other...if/when we get BACK to recognizing and dealing with a lot of the sensitivities we've all known as children but have had to train out of ourselves in order just to survive. Some (many?) of those who choose to commit suicide, therefore, may well make a conscious choice to hold to their ideals, I think (but of course, I can only conjecture) ~~ It's tough, painful stuff, no matter how we might look at it. And it's horrible. But I do think that the suicide of any one person is kind of like a price we all pay.... for the way we live in this world. And I think we all need to change. So please...may any person who's feeling suicidal... keep hope, and reach out for help (it IS going to get better!). And please, may any of us who's not feeling that way... let us continue working to make this world better. (I think you guys are doing just that, btw, with these "reaction" videos, and with your fair-minded and well considered thoughts and observations). So...thanks again, CJ, for the sharing of all this. And may G-d bless us all ***

I mean, you'd think rich people wouldn't commit suicide, but they do. It just shows that it's deeper than just having the ability to do and have what you what. If you're not happy, you're not happy, but it's on ourselves to find that happiness.

I respect your dad a lot for pointing out the fact that it’s a mental health issue. Although some of the lyrics can be hurtful, I do like how he comes back with it and explains himself and apologizes. I def think it would be a good video for yall and keep the discussion poppin!

Damn. Video and words are powerful. I understand the viewer saying to just do what you need to, feel pain, feel joy, just FEEL. However, I lost my father 8 years ago to this shit. He hung himself in our garage on my wedding night. A man, so brutal, so intimidating, so powerful, lost all of his power to hold on. To this day I cannot comprehend what would cause him to take that final leap. He would have been a great young grandpa, continued his journey as a husband and father, an unbelievable source of knowledge during my last 8 years of being a mid 20 year old. What is it that takes over your whole self to not think of the people left to pick up the pieces. Not much to say on this issue but OWN every step whether good or bad and try to find the path you are destined to walk on.

My depression is literally a chemical imbalance in my brain. It’s not about kissing my cat, or going to box. I know your uncle meant well, but some people can’t help but to feel depressed.

Guy's I've had a two suicide attempts in my life due to mental health issues but right side Unc is right. There is dumb shit that makes you happy and shit you don't realise you'll be leaving behind. Find the stupid shit that makes you happy and keep it. it's not all about money and shit. you spend money and then you'll make money. It's all good. You find the love of your life and you lose them, you'll find another one day. Nothing is that bad. And I say that through experience with my personal issues and as a good friend of mine succeeded in killing himself. Stay strong and find the dumb shit that makes you happy. None of these guys meant any harm, they just understand the things we all should, it's the small things that count. This page is amazing, you have a new sub, keep going!
