"Hi Ren" is the song that put Ren on everyone's radar in December 2022. However, Ren's earliest recordings on KZbin are from his time in a band called "Trick The Fox," consisting of Ren and his buddies Charlie and Tommy. Unfortunately, the band performed only briefly due to Ren's onset of health issues. They are very talented. A fun clip to watch is "The Mash Up." Ren's trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet" has been likened to a Shakespearean tragedy and is a prime example of his genius; it is a master's class in storytelling and also showcases his guitar skills. The three acts are haunting, and the conclusion will catch you off guard. The trilogy needs to be watched in the order given, as this is the flow of the storyline and is best watched as a whole rather than piecemeal. Ren's Hip Hop/Rap style songs are worth checking out if you enjoy this genre; unfortunately, sexual innuendos are pervasive in hip-hop and rap, and Ren makes such references in several of his songs. Check out "The Hunger," "Genesis," "What You Want," "Losing It (FISHER rap retake)," "Right Here, Right Now (Fatboy Slim one shot retake)," "Life is Funny," "Love Music (Parts 1, 2, 3, and 4)," "Crucify Your Culture," "Power," "Hold On," his recent release, “Down On The Beat (feat. Viktus),” “Masochist,” his song “Halftime (Nas Retake),”and “Troubles,” just to name a few. Ren's collaborations with Chinchilla ("Chalk Outlines," "How to Be Me," "Sexual Healing," "One Dance/Drunk in Love") are beautiful and showcase his singing voice. His live music videos are especially impressive. Ren's personal reflections are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," "Diazepam," "Penitence," "Dear God," "Heretic," "Dominos," his "Freckled Angels" album, in particular his song "Fire," just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I, II & III) is another recommendation, although it is less of a personal song than it is an indictment of greed and the resulting injustices in this world. Ren just released "Money Game Part III," and in my opinion, it is his best work to date. Ren's performances with Sam Tompkins ("Blind Eyed," "Earned It /Mans World / Falling," "Walking on the Moon/No Diggity," "Feeling Good/Trouble So High/Masterblaster (Jammin')," "Latch," "Wild Thoughts/Crazy in love (Live Session)," "Same Old Situation (Live, feat. Ren)," "Improvising Around Stevie Wonder," "Live in the Streets of Brighton, UK," "What Went Wrong" Part I&II) are definitely a must. Also, his collaborations with Eden Nash ("Humble," "Ocean"), Bibi ("Crutch," "Ahiahiaoha"), Molly McKinna ("Penitence"), Orlean ("Jessica"), his former bandmate Romain Axisa ("French Song"), are all great. Last but not least, Ren's busking sessions with Liv Sangster are awesome. I recently discovered that Ren also recorded a cover of "Can't Help Falling In Love (Elvis Cover)," which is simply beautiful. "The Big Push" (Ren Gill, Gorran Kendall, Romain Axisa, and Glen Chambers) busking sessions, concerts, and live recordings all are amazing and well worth checking out. All but the drummer sing lead vocals at times. They are each incredibly gifted artists. Their covers of "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop," "Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble So Hard," "War Pigs," "Roadhouse Blues," "My Generation," "Paint It Black," "An Englishman in New York," "Bongo Bong" are excellent. On "These Boots Are Made For Walking'/Satisfaction/Everybody," "Praise You" (Fatboy Slim Cover), and "What Kind Of Woman Is This," all three take a turn singing. The songs "Oh My Woman," "Swan Song," "Sweet Little Lady," "It's Alright," "Dignity," "Watch Out," and so many others are equally impressive. In 2023, Ren released "Sick Boi," "Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve retake)," which is another masterful work, "Illest Of Our Time," and "Animal Flow," which is out in two versions, a full-production music video, and a live, one-take acoustic version. Ren's release, "Su!cIde," is a sad, haunting, gut-wrenching tribute to Ren's friend Joe who took his own life. Ren’s follow-up to “Su!cIde,” "For Joe," is also sad and emotional, but strangely enough, it offers a sense of closure. Ren also premiered the official music video of his song “Murderer,” and followed it up with a newly recorded acoustic live version that is phenomenal and my favorite of the two versions. His releases, “Love Music Part 4,” “Masochist,” “Lost All Faith,” are from his album, "Sick Boi," which came out on October 13th, 2023; it made it to #1 on the UK Album Charts. Ren also released “Back on 74/Message in a Bottle (Live Retake),” “Fred Again Mashup,” as well as a number of Live acoustic versions of previously released songs, and “Bittersweet Symphony (Live)” just premiered August 26, 2024. Ren’s latest release, “Kujo Beatdown” is worth watching, but it is important that you watch Ren’s video preceding the release, where he goes into great detail as to what let up to the making of the song. I could list more, but this comment will likely get blocked by YT due to its length.

You didn’t finish his monologue which ties up the meaning of the song. The last words of his monologue are where he speaks the most healing words of the whole thing. “It was never really a battle for me to win, it was an eternal dance And like a dance, the more rigid I became, the harder it got The more I cursed my clumsy footsteps, the more I struggled So I got older and I learned to relax And I learned to soften and that dance got easier It is this eternal dance that separates human beings From angels, from demons, from gods And I must not forget, we must not forget That we are human beings.” He is giving us the key to surviving the human condition. This is vital to the song. Please be more careful next time 💜😊💜

This information gives you some background on Ren and puts much of his music and performance art in perspective. I gathered the information from old newspaper interviews, articles, and Ren's public livestreams and posts. All the information here was gathered exclusively from sources Ren personally approved for public release. Ren is a Welsh independent artist/singer/songwriter/busker/producer, living in Brighton, UK. He plays multiple instruments (acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, piano, melodica, drums, cello), has impressive vocals, beatboxes, produces all his own beats, is an excellent storyteller, and is quite the philosopher and poet. He is considered by many a modern-day bard; he once jokingly called his music "bardcore" and it stuck. Ren's music videos are frequently recorded live using a lavalier mic, often in a single take, although not necessarily the first take, and from various camera angles. In the case of the music video performance of "Hi Ren," it took four takes, all live in the room, to get the footage he wanted. "Sick Boi," is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren" and appears to have been filmed in the same room. Ren also has a live version of “Hi Ren” that was recorded in front of an audience. Ren has been creating great music for more than ten years. Many of Ren's songs resonate with people because he addresses struggles that many others face every day. Deservedly so, in October 2023, Ren album “Sick Boi” hit #1 on the UK Billboard album charts. Every RENegade should listen to this beautiful and moving poem/spoken word tribute to Ren's accomplishment of hitting #1 on the UK album charts. It is from a young artist by the name of Sonny Saxton, and he skillfully weaves many of Ren's song titles and lyrics into his poem. I hope Ren will notice and watch it. Here is the link; well worth everyone’s time. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZzTZHVjrZtgf9E&lc=UgwmBUMbXrER6Mx4WwJ4AaABAg.9w8dqTD6k0V9wAM4gBoRW3 Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, he began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures, which eventually caused him to discontinue his studies and return home. In addition, Ren was signed by Sony Records in 2010 and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point that he was unable to go on; consequently, his contract with Sony was dissolved. Ren would later relocate to Brighton. Ren's illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours daily. Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome, which led him to experience psychosis and develop PTSD. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, joints, and PTSD. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. Ren has spend the last 1 ½ years in Calgary, Canada, undergoing treatment for Lyme Disease and other medical conditions brought on by the disease, such as Mast Cell Activation Disorder (MCAD), which has affected the myelin sheath in his brain, his thyroid, and adrenals as well as his bones/joints. After, what was thought to be a successful treatment, Ren just had a relapse and will have to return to Canada for additional treatments. Ren hit #1 on the UK Billboard Album Charts last October. Check out and subscribe to his channel; if you are a content creator, ask your audience to subscribe to Ren's channel. Let’s help make Ren a household name.

Little confused why you cut off the last lines of the video. They are Ren's favorite lines, stressing the importance of accepting ourselves as human rather than angels, demons or gods. Coming to terms with our mutual humanity and learning to dance with our darker self rather than trying to be perfect . Ren speaks for the chronically ill and had been virtually housebound from 19 to 26 with Lyme disease. He has been using his music as therapy all his life. I suggest Sick Boi, the title track of his #1 album in the UK last year .

I just saw your Hi Ren reaction, and put this journal entry of Ren's as my comment to that reaction. jAN 01, 2023~~~rEN~ Up until I was 9 years old, I would intermittently hear a voice in my head that was not my own. The voice was distinctly different to mine, and always negative. It would self criticize or urge me to do things I knew to be morally wrong. The most peculiar thing about the voice was that it took no effort on my behalf to produce. My own thoughts always felt like there was a process that required effort to bring them to the forefront of my mind, this voice appeared as though it was spoken by another. The sentences felt predetermined like they had already been constructed. I remember very vividly at 9 years old, becoming very frustrated with the voice. I stood in my back yard, internally screaming at the voice to be silent again and again, and it did. In a flash there was silence, to the point where my head felt like an empty room. I wasn't used to the quiet and that voice never returned. It almost felt lonely in my head. When I got older I had intermittent bouts with auditory hallucinations where I would hear perfect symphonies, usually at night when drifting off to sleep. They were so clear that they sounded like they were emanating from a radio in the corner of my room. I knew they weren't there, but for some reason they never came with the feeling of fear. I also recall sitting on a bus at the age of 15, and hearing the sound of a crowded room, with about 100 voices chattering away, I was the only person apart from the driver on the bus. These experiences were always very brief, and few and far between. My last hallucination was during an intense bout of psychosis in 2015, and was my first visual hallucination. I was walking down a pavement after jumping out my mums car in a crossroads in a moment of frustration and distress with my condition. I was trying to run from myself. What appeared to be a homeless man with a dark complexion approached me, and asked me what was wrong. I explained that I had been sick most my life, and I wasn't sure I had the strength to continue. He looked at me, and smiled and told me 'everything is going to be okay in the end Ren.' I had not told him my name. There was something so overpoweringly sincere about this very simple message, which brought with it an overwhelming feeling of inner peace, and in a flash, he vanished. My rational brain always linked these experiences to what the doctors have told me, that there are parts of my brain compromised by the autoimmunity in my body. That the myelin sheaths surrounding the complex electrical system that conduct my thoughts were damaged and compromised, causing these lucid experiences that I knew did not exist inside the physical world. The part of me that edges away from logical and rational thought always attributed these thoughts to some kind of otherworldly intervention, that made my thoughts the battleground of some spiritual tug of war. For a long time I never really acknowledged this part of myself, for with it brought the danger and stigma of sounding like a crazy person. I decided with my latest release, to the best of my ability, to capture and express this chess match of thought. Hi Ren comes out in just over 24 hours. I can't wait for you all to hear it.

FYI, Ren supports the reactor community and won't copyright strike you, so you don't have to edit his videos

I noticed 3 places that you edited Ren’s video. Was that on purpose?

lol I'm sure this is genuine and harmless, but on the internet it somehow reads hella aggressive

@jameskyles8144 I think she wants to tell them that Ren doesn't copyright strike, so for that reason it's not necessary.

Ren performs with a band called The Big Push. I would love to see your dad's reaction to their 'I Shot the 'Sherrif' mash-up ❤️

Welcome to the Renegades! Ren happily lets reactors monetize without editing/clipping his videos, because he says a rising tide lifts all ships. Plan B, the other performer he mentioned in the bit with Eminem, is an old school British rapper who also plays acoustic guitar. He was big in the early 2000s on British R&B charts. Please react to any other Ren videos. All are powerful and soulful. But one caveat: there is a song called "Kujo Beat Down" that is a harsh diss track against a beat producer Kujobeats that tried to claim copyright over Ren's song "Sick Boi" (about some of Ren's real-life issues with the medical community), and after Ren bent over backwards to reach out to the dude, he had his girlfriend lie extensively online & post fake contracts & other nonsense. "Kujo Beat Down" is a rage-filled reaction to that situation, (where he lets the "dark Ren" from Hi Ren take over), but it's very unlike his other stuff, so you should have that context (and watch Sick Boi first).

Its true Ren will not strike you. Its also true that if or when your channel.can Ren allows all reactors to monetize HIS work, though some things on his channel may not be his to allow. No cuts or filters are Needed on Ren videos, but this is Your Channel, do what and how You are most comfortable doing them. Remember what your audience posts for you to change are Just Suggestions, not criticisms. Welcome to the Harbor of Ren.
