A father of two little girls is catching a lot of heat online after a viral video showed him getting upset when he found he was having a third daughter instead of a son. As pink confetti streamed down during the gender reveal, the father was not happy. He stormed off while cursing. The video has already amassed 44 million views on social media, and the guy is getting slammed by commenters. But his pregnant wife is coming to the dad’s defense.

Not only that, we all know boys love their mothers. When I found out I was having another boy, I was happy. I'll be honest, I was kind of hoping for a girl at first with my second because then I would have one of each but to me all that mattered was a healthy baby. I remember when the technician told me that I was having a boy. I had to go to the ER because I fell and I wanted to make sure the baby was okay. She told me that I was about 18 weeks and that she was not supposed to tell me what the gender was. She said that they may have read it out in the front but that she couldn't tell me. We got to talkin and I remember asking her if I was far enough along that she could tell what I was having and she said yes, it's a boy. I was happy that she told me and I told her that if they told me up front I would act surprised.

My father was so excited when he learned mother was pregnant that he bought an expensive train set for me. Back then you did not know which sex a baby would be until it was born. I imagine he might have been a little disappointed but he was a wonderful father and now at age 94 years he told me he could not imagine having a better child. I care for him 24/7 and feel honored to do so.

I knew a mother who gave birth, when the doctor said “ it’s a boy”, she sobbed in disappointment. Her husband actually went out and bought extravagant gifts she wanted to make her happy. That baby boy passed away at a very young age. BE THANKFUL because you don’t know how long you’ll have someone and you don’t want to regret not showing them love. Yep. I’m 47. My father wanted boys and got 3 girls. We grew up knowing this and it was evident in our upbringing. He never went to see any of our sport games, no parent/teacher interviews, never played with us. We tried to please him and get close to him by enjoying fishing and camping etc - but he always took us and taught us things under sufferance. He’s now in his mid 70’s and none of us girls like seeing or speaking to him. He will be the elderly person in the nursing home that never gets visitors and people & staff will wonder why. That’s why, Dad. You never should have been a father.

I went looking for my real dad; who I only met once before, about five years ago. My brother and I were born in the 80s, and my parents chose not to find out. I was first, and I was expected in late 1983. My mom had a younger sister who was 7 at the time (she was a later-in-life surprise baby for my grandparents). My mom and her mom stood in line for a Cabbage Patch Kid in the August heat with my mom very pregnant. My mom knew she wanted the doll because she could have a girl. I asked her what would have happened if I had been a boy. She told me she would have saved it for the next baby. If she had had all boys, she would have given it to someone with a daughter. I was a girl, I got that CPK doll. I wasn't allowed to play with it. There was one photo of it laying next to me for my first Christmas, and that doll went on the shelf and stayed there throughout my childhood. My brother was born 2 years later, and we both were given a preemie CPK doll. He got a boy, and I got a girl. We were allowed to play with those. Back then, they advertised a lot of dolls for boys and girls. Shoot, My Buddy doll was made for boys and the girl doll (Kid Sister) came later.

When I was born, my dad was so proud. According to my mom, he walked around the maternity ward like he owned the place (more like swaggered), and he crowed about it to everyone who would listen. It also helped that I was the first granddaughter born on both my mom’s and dad’s side of my family, and the only girl born to my paternal grandparents. From what I understand, the dad truly loves his daughters, and girl number 3 is going to be much loved as well.

I worked in Divorce Law for over 20 years. This is a very telling sign of his true psyche and desire that does exhibit his true innermost feelings. He knows he is stuck with whatever he gets, but the reaction was overly demonstrative in an extreme negative display in front three females. His girls did notice his behavior. He is a very likely candidate to get a new younger wife that can produce him a male for his ego. This man is a narcissist and already knew before it was announced how he would react in a very, very positive ecstatic way or an extremely negative and deplorable disappointed manner. He cannot be both a good father with lack of control over not-having-it-his-way or see the child as a blessing and really good with the girls at the same time. His reaction is an obvious display of old-school thinking of breadwinner or breadbasket. I understand why the wife is defending him, because she knows herself she can be stuck raising three kids on her own so she will accept any behavior he displays and make excuses for it. That was her first response of defending him when she was the one who posted the video. Was that just for money, because it paints them both in a very poor light?

I hate this argument. Neither the mother nor the father can control what the gender will be. They don’t get to decide. They get what they get. This isn’t the point of the video. The point is he showed a really bad example and his daughters will likely grow up knowing about this video and might feel rejected. It was a bad moment for him. Not a good look at all and I would be damn ashamed if I ever did that to one of my children. Terrible example to give as a father. Im the only girl of 4 children. When I found out my mom was having another boy, I was so disappointed and hid under the table to cry! Could you tell I was hoping for a sister? lol But that didn't stop me from loving my little brother and now we're the closest duo in our family. Its okay to be disappointed at a gender reveal. It stops being okay when you take it out on the child and dont love them as they deserve to be loved. (EDIT: I understand that it wasn't the best reaction to show infront of his daughters as a grown man. The cursing and walking off can be taken negatively. Though if the family says he's a great loving father, im sure he celebrated with them after he calmed down as this is only a clip of the entire event. Disappointment can be hard to suppress sometimes - it makes him human. I can only hope that his future daughter understands.)

What’s actually harder is being told you’re having one sex and find out later that you will have the opposite sex. I was told I was going to have a girl (twice) and the last ultrasound confirmed it was a boy. That baby girl we thought we were having had a name and she was so loved. Of course we love our son, but we felt a sense of loss. I feel guilty admitting this, but we can’t help how we feel. Taking back all the clothes in exchange for boy outfits was heartbreaking for me. Once my son we born, that “loss” faded and we were smitten with our healthy boy.

Had a good friend prego at same time as me back in2007 and was told the same but didn't find out it was a mistake until HE was born. She had to return everything and repaint!! I think they told her too early (like 16Wi-Fi she was having issues and found out) and then after the subsequent ultrasounds they just really weren't concerned with that part of the body and he was never in a telling position during those later scans. a lot of people think this doesn't happen this day&she but it does more than you think. My friend never had "time" before he was born to grieve over her girl&returning stuff because by the time she knew he was born and a healthy big boy! I could see how many parents would grieve returning stuff though after almost 7-8months of being told it was a different gender....Either way parents always love what they get, as long as it's healthy is all that matters and that is the true blessing

I said "Matthew?" It took us 3 days to finally come up with the name Julie. 5 years later Matthew was born. Yay!!

I can understand to a point. When I was pregnant with my first, I wanted a little girl, but had a little boy. And now having two little boys, I'm absolutely in love with being a boy mom. It's okay to be disappointed, but be grateful that your baby is healthy, loved, happy. That's all we can ask for. 😊

Exactly this. He didn't STORM off, he walked off slowly. It's okay to be disappointed and that's not talked about enough. I wanted a boy and had a girl and I couldn't adore her more. Second baby is a girl as well and I still couldn't be happier. I don't care if I never have a boy I'm happy to have happy kids and they never feel unloved or unwanted. He has 2 girls and likely wants to stop at 3 kids so he was disappointed he would never have a son like he wanted and that's okay. It doesn't mean he'll love that girl any less! His disappointment will pass and things will be just fine. Mom even laughed, she was obviously not concerned that he was genuinely upset.

I totally agree!!.. I’m a 3rd child to my parents and my entire family wanted a boy, including my grandparents, who’s 5 son’s have only girls!.. So finally I was born and I turned out to be a girl!.. my mom cried, my dad was disappointed, my grandma sat with her hands on her hands and god knows my grandpa’s reaction!.. But honestly, when I heard about this years later, I just burst into laughter 😂🤣😂 I found it too too amusing!.. I actually turned out to be the favourite of all, especially my dad 👹 Just cause a parent has a moments disappointment, doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t love their child!.. It’s a natural desire to have a different gender for a 3rd baby.. I tease my mom till date, for crying when I was born 😂🤣😂 And Truth be told, I’m her biggest support and she calls me her “Rock of Gibraltar” ❤
