Nervous is good - #1 fly in drone friendly areas. Use Air Data ap or Air Control ap to check out your flying area

@DadRandom well I've flown about 75 times and crashed it 3. I'm waiting for it to come back from Asurion 🤣🤣🤣Glad I got insurance!

I appreciate that you are still learning, but I would have put it in Cine mode in order to slow down your orbit. You can also go into your settings in each mode (C, N, or S) and adjust them to provide you with really cinematic footage. Also, I always use an ND filter and fly in auto. For your overcast day I might have used an ND 8 or 16. On a sunny day, a 32 or 64. Golden hour, no ND. Having to adjust for all your camera settings while flying will severely limit your creativity. Remember, that just by tilting your gimbal you are changing your camera settings each second (try it by putting the camera in pro mode and all unlocked - tilt your gimbal from all down, to full up, and back again, and watch the camera settings change like crazy!). You have a flying camera and it is constantly moving, for me - auto is my friend. If it was a boring land camera, then of course, you would take your time to adjust all those exposure, ISO, shutter, aperture, white balance settings. Just my opinion, however, give it a try for half a dozen flights and see what you think. Happy flying, my friend.

As an old school photographer, I am continually amazed how things have progressed. However, ideal exposure is difficult to achieve especially when sky is involved. I take a reading from just below the horizon and lock. Obviously not ideal as it only works when shooting in that direction. Best avoid the sky...
@DadRandomАй бұрын
Sounds like pretty much what I do - then lock in the exposure

If you are by a lot of trees would the return to home button be smart to use or not
@BMT_editzАй бұрын
@@TGCsp1r1t yea just make sure your RTH altitude is higher than any trees and make sure you’re not under a tree(in an open area for landing)

Love your videos, great advices for drone novices like I am (just got my first DJI Mini 4k). I have one question: I have learned that one of the rules for this type of drone (at least here in Austria) is, to only fly the drone as far as you can see it with your eyes. I see you're flying a lot by just looking at the drone's camera to check where it's flying, so I am wondering whether this particular rule is not in place in the states? I am already getting super nervous when I let the drone fly a bit higher and I can barely see it anymore 😅 I assume this will pass once I have practiced more?
@Neemulus14 күн бұрын
Great question, I'm nervous about that too. In the UK its the same rules, I think I will need to switch between the screen and the drone. I think as long as you can see it at all times, you can look at the screen to control it, but it must stay in direct line of sight. I plan to use the screen once I get up to the height I want, but check the drone every 10-15 seconds to make sure there are not birds attacking it etc. :). If you want more advice, you can google the 'Drone and Model Aircraft Code' and read the UK one from the CAA, really useful.

This is a great video. I'm just wondering if you could do a comparing video to the mini 3 on the same footage. Do you have a video already of this? In which way does the mini 3 surpass the mini 4K? I presume it is the camera for photography and slightly longer flight time. Am I correct? Cheers!

I can tell you from experience that mini 3 will be better footage. Larger sensor and better with changes in light and dark

one should not cancel the other out. Try checking in the FLY AP how you have RTH set up. Go to the FLY AP menu in setup

I was very disappointed to discover only after using the mini 4k that the cruise control and waypoint flight mode were taken away, both very simple to implement via software on the equipment, which even though it is the entry-level one has the same platform as the mini 2 which has these functions and also the transfer via wifi. I hope that DJI admits the mistake and soon puts these functions in its application for the mini 4k.
