In Fire and Blood, yes. In HoTD, no. The show purposely wrote him as a necessary evil to advance the plot. No more, no less. What makes him such an excellent gray character has been stripped away.

@@lisaellis2593 Daemon killed his wife with a rock, Viserys had his killed without warning. Daemon choked Rhae-Rhae, and Viserys r@ped his wife. Neither of those actions were looked at it back then as they would be now. I don’t see Daemon being any more evil than Viserys (who I loved in the show) or Bobby Baratheon who we also saw backhand his wife Cersei in GOT. These shows are filled with Gray characters so much so that the pure evil ones stand out (Sir Meryn, the one that beat little girls for pleasure and Good ol Ramsay B.)

Daemons not reallly all that original a character though. His personality, looks, hell even his armor and a big magic sword are identical to the character "Elric of Melnibone" from Michael Moorcocks "Eternal Champion" series. Elrics armor is exactly like Daemons, as is his cold, calculated but "Devil may care" personality. Elric is also a dragon rider, from the lost island of Illmyrr. A nation of Dragon Princes that once ruled over the "Young Kingdoms" or "Kingdom of men. There are some differences though. Elric is a sorcerer/warrior. He worships Chaos and has a patron diety named Arioch who actually comes when Elric summons him (when he feels like it). He is an albino with alot of health problems that need drugs to keep him normal and on his feet, till he gains a sword from the bowels of hell called "Stormbringer", a twin pair of greatswords (The other is called Mournblade) that is said that if someone held one in each hand they could destroy the world as an afterthought. Don't know about that, but what it DOES do, is feed the souls of the slain to Elric, adding whatever strength and skill they have to him temporarily, so that the more he brings down, the more powerful he grows till the sword becomes "Sated" and then Elric is screwed, and dropps from exhaustion. I HIGHLY recommend these old books to anyone who loves GOT. There are enough differences that make it worth checking out, and enough similarities that you would like one if you like the other. WHY his saga has never made it onto the screen is a mystery to be. His books were popular in the 70s and 80s. But now they have all but been forgotten.

Wonder how the show will depict him dying? Body not found? I'd think it poetic to die in someone's arms. maybe ride a boat on to the sea, or a viking funeral, to explain his body never being found. Either Baela, Rhaena, Rhaenyra or Nettles could hold him as he passed. Could also be he dies in the shadow of his dying beloved dragon Caraxes, though that doesn't explain why his body was never found.
