I converted in Omaha! I lived in Des Moines at the time. And we actually talked about Bava Kamma 16 in my first Daf! 😂 coincidences on coincidences

Apparently "Bardilos" is made from two words "Barad" which means spotted in Hebrew and "los" perhaps is like the latin for cat "feLIS" so it could be leopard, cheetah etc BTW there is a lot of code im this daf. When they want only certain people to understand. Look in Maharasha Hidushi Agados in the back of a regular volume to see if he decodes it. Like the only rules that were passed down on how to decode cryptic statements is if it makes you have more love or fear of G-d your are getting it.

It could protect me from whatever animal they were talking about while on the pipe, Gandalf style...

@@MiriamAnzovin cats have been doing if it fits it sits since forever. Large cats act like they are small house cats when they play, and house cats think they are their large ancestors. None of these sages had cats, confirmed. Women are pits, huh? Still not over random afterbirth storytime a few dafs ago (someone was telling on their wife, I'm convinced. They are obsessed with what goes in and comes out of women...of all species), but now we are compared to pit. Got it..

@@MiriamAnzovin that's where the spines go through their metamorphic process, Miriam. They need a "warm pit". Have you read the Talmud and seen what's in there? (said in gotcha troll voice from that person who posts one screenshot from Sefaria and thinks they know everything. Although...I kinda wouldn't be surprised if that was a take by one of the sages at this point, ngl).

I thought it was interesting that they thought spines turned into snakes because in Kundalini yoga they believe there's a coiled snake at the base of the spine that you can release as a burst of spiritual energy.

The snake represents gut reactions of the "lizard brain" there are apparently 18 segments in the spine, we pray the "Amida" prayer which is called in Hebrew, Shmone Esre meaning 18 blessings corresponding to the energy going down each segment. So when we wake up in the morning our super rational Divine is only in the breath of our nose and then by doing the 18 blessings that energy goes down the spine to the entire body. In Kundelini the tingle that feels like a shiver goes the other direction, up the spine.

So, I have questions... 1. Should Elisha have been held liable for the whole thing with the bears eating kids? Or was it not proven that they were cocaine bears? 🤔 2. If someone's spine only turns into a snake years after they die, surely they'd still have been BURIED with all their body parts, right? Even if their spine slithers off later? 🐍

Excellent question! Technically he didn’t own the bears, I guess. And allegedly “there were no bears” which is retconning at its finest! And yes we are supposed to be buried with all our stuff but can you imagine trying to find which snake out there is your spine?! Like, it doesn’t have a GPS. I don’t know if it answers when called!
