I just purchased an Airbike fuselage frame. From what I can tell it was never completed. I am getting ready to start building the wings for it and your videos are so helpful. Keep up the great work.

I love you're idea of' reinforcing the spars with carbon fiber tow but I wonder if it would not have better placed on the top and bottom of the spar?
@dagtheaviator2 жыл бұрын
I did? There are 12 pieces of tow per wing. The top spar wood has three and the bottom spar wood has three on the front and rear spar.

The people all flustered by the use of nails made me laugh. I am a fan of the aerobatic Bellanca Citabria and Decathlon. They have wood spars with aluminum ribs attached with nails.

We live in a strange world, but I am sure you already know that. I know a guy restoring a old plane and all he is using is nails and epoxy.

Can any one explain, why people still using wood and plywood when aluminum and CNC cutting tools are available? What is the benefits of plywood compared to aluminum?
@dagtheaviator Жыл бұрын
IMHO.. Price, and durability. Aluminum is not cheap to make a wing out of. Plus, its dents so easy when used as a skin. Wood is easy to shape and finish. I have seen also sorts of people who build ultralights try aluminum and it just doesn't work well. However, when making a kit planes on a line, with the proper tooling, aluminum is great. All IMHO.

Wow,I thought building the wings would be simple was I ever wrong. You made it look like your building this for nasa. Don't get me wrong, you've done a great job of explaining the importance of what should be done. But you just scared me to death about building the airplane. I don't have a 3d printer so I can't make all those jigs you made. So, as much as I want to build a plane it looks like it's going to be way out of my capacity to do it.

@@dagtheaviator Yup I did. But I'm not surprised. BTW have you ever experimented with flying wings? There are few videos that actually get into the aerodynamics of them. I am still trying to figure out the optimal relation between Center of Pressure CG, and wing geometry... so many variables.

Buying knifes & guns & acid & football label crap & golf clubs & cocane & meth anfetamine & heroine & beer & whisky & tatoos & kids sh1t is far more expensive in the real world than building aircraft. So ignore the woke no-brain trolls & keep building.
