+Roads Untraveled There is one of these things for sale here in MI for $1500 that has a Ford 302 V8 and T5 5spd trans swapped into it. Comes with coilover conversion for front end and big brake kit that just need calipers. Has full interior and everything works. I just really don't like the look of these things or else I would have bought it already.

The RWD volvol are very sound cars as they lived factory a bit more power makes them truly awesome and very safe from their handling characteristics the red block engines are truly built to last a lifetime, I drove a B230f for 1 million miles with no more repair than replace head gasket ( a bad troubleshooting!), valve stem seals, oil seals and timing belts. I regret these volvos , nothing today offers a so well adapted car to real life

Have a 940 myself, bought it over a year ago at a dealership where it had been standing for over 5 years! Spent some time cleaning, fixing and servicing the car which didn't cost me a lot of money. I daily it, I drift it, no problems at all so far! Gotta love the Volvo's..

Ive had a 740 turbo with larger fuel injectors, manual boost controller, intake and 2.5'' turbo back with only a muffler @ 15psi. By most standards it was still not a fast car (190hp maybe) but it was a crap load of fun! And you can beat on the redblock engine all day long, it doesn't care. Turbo Brick is the way to go!
@CarstenNielsenK8 жыл бұрын
+RCPro Driver I also had a 740, mine was an '89 with the 2.3L 16-valve, damn was that ever a fun car!
@SwedenVIrre8 жыл бұрын
+RCPro Driver I've had a bumch of volvos even without my licens. fun cars and the motor is really strong. both 945 and 740 US spec. MY 740 GLE 16 valve was a really fun car, around 165 hp was enough to make the car feel quick. sure its not a skyline but just for driving? fun car! short gear ratio and some small modds to the engine(little more ignition timng, 2.5 inch exhaust instead of 2.25) and the third was a blast!
@999benhonda8 жыл бұрын
Carsten Nielsen I have yet to see a 16v here. the 16v had specs pretty close to the 8v turbo.
@CarstenNielsenK8 жыл бұрын
Just teetered on the edge of enough power to have fun, if you really smashed on it you could get it sideways. I was 17 at the time so it's probably a good thing that it didn't have more power.
@999benhonda8 жыл бұрын
Carsten Nielsen but the beauty of a 740 turbo is it doesn't take much money to get another 25-40hp and that will get the rear wheels sliding pretty well. But, even a non-turbo on a dirt road is a blast to drive.

Thanks for increasing the resale value on nice condition Volvo's! In my opinion there is a lot more that goes into a fun driving car than an exhaust and some cheap low, but you gotta do what works for you.
@driftsnlifts8 жыл бұрын
I know right.. I have a stock red 740 m46 turbo wagon I just picked up for cheap , I think if I sit on it I'll make some good money on it once people realise they can make a deecent performance car for cheap . I didn't elaborate on the mods on my car enough in this video . it has a 16t turbo , white injectors from an s70 , 17 lbs boost , a 3 inch turbo air intake mods , a tloa chip to raise Rev limiter , it also has ipd front springs and a rear ipd sway bar . a welded diff and 400 pounds removed from the car!

Proper budjetdrifter. My friend had 940 turbo too, damn that thing took some serious beating. If something like valves hit piston and engine died, it took couple hours to change cylinderhead and you were ready to go again. 960 has a straight-six engine wich i like more.

This will be my first driftcar for sure, its cheap and has a turbo. What could even be better than that haha
@pmodd8 жыл бұрын
+TheTastyDuck Something that comes with a manual gearbox, IRS, DOHC and Macpherson Struts? A car like that would be much, much better. Perhaps even a car that comes with decent aftermarket support, so not every mod must be a bespoke piece? That modified Volvo obviously works for him, given he's installed a manual box, turbo upgrade, chopped springs, straight-pipe, locker and stripped interior. Still never going to be great with a solid axle and small displacement SOHC engine, but he wanted 'different' and he achieved that, which is cool. In contrast, when I first bought my 180sx years ago I just put the key in the ignition and went sliding. If I were in the USA, honestly, I would just go down the easy path and buy a 240sx. Sure it will cost you more initially and you'll likely need to do some rust repairs, but you ultimately save money due to the massive aftermarket support and information resources available. When you can jump on ebay and just buy a bunch of Chinese rose-jointed arms, extended tie rods and lock knuckles, you'll spend more time on the track and less with a welder. It's not like it's difficult to build a KA24DE+T anyway... hardest part is drilling and welding a bung to the upper-sump and coolant neck lol.
