Daily Driving a Baja Bug

Daily driving a baja bug is as fun as it sounds, you even get daily offroad action! Once you get past the vw bug daily driver cold, hard starts that is haha. We daily drive our vw baja bug all the time. You have to be careful on the road, but the best part is how often you get to take it offroad! I've never owned a better offroad car 😁

Up until it came time to rebuild my engine a couple years ago, I drove my Baja on the street all the time. Tons of fun! Also, your cold start troubles look like they should be solvable by adjusting your choke (I assume it's electric choke, not manual).

There is no possible way a vw bug engine made enough oil pressure to blow a filter apart. Even with a “race motor” most likely double gasketed the oil filter and it blew apart there

Lol actually we have a race motor in ours so we can't give it too much gas at the start up or we could blow our oil filter 👍 that's why it takes us a few times to start up. As well as the carbs we have don't have a cold start so they have to warm up before everything works right

Southern California, Santa Clarita area. Google maps is awesome for finding new local trails, we use the geographic map to find good ohv sites :)

91 octane. We aren't high compression, just big bore big stroke. Occasionally we add some high quality octane booster (NO CHEAP STUFF) torco or vp

12 city, 18-20 highway. Not the thirstiest girl, gets about the same as a small truck. For a 2.3L and big tires with low gearing it isn't bad 👌😎

I remember then baja bugs with straight pipes were EVERYWHERE back in the 80's they are so fucking loud and obnoxious, hopefully all the noise actually give you some performance advantage , I dont really see how it would, only sounds cool to the guy driving it and making all the noise. I love VW's but have no love for straight pipes. That shit is just inconsiderate to everyone around you.
