In a meeting last week our visitor's first question was "who's is the GR Yaris?" to which my boss retorted "didn't you see my Tesla?". Like you say, the GR is an insane choice - to most people. Who wants to be most people.

Very good clip. I am watching all old ones regarding GR Yaris because I've just ordered my own - 2024 spec. I cannot wait I got it. I was driving Gt86 for 4,5 years and over 105.000 km, I hope Yaris will give me at least the same amount of pleasure.

@@gymclasshero88 not really. It can be less "comfortable" than Gt86, but not much. Most important thing (due to leg problems) was to have it with AT gearbox (that is why I did not even consider previous model). But with auto - I can live with that. I fit to my wife's 2023 Yaris HSD without any problem and can drive it for 200-300km without problems, so I hope 100-150 km in GR will not be an issue ;)

What makes the Yaris such a special car is the fact that it was created specifically for rally and racing. Unlike many homologation specials that are based on existing road car platforms and suitably modified for rally / race, this car was created first as a competition car (bespoke platform and engine) and then adapted for road. In spirit that is closer to the Group B rally cars of the 80s than Group A. So the compromises we experience with it as a road car is because it is race car first, road car - well you had to sell these to qualify for the WRC - second. And precisely because of that, it is special. If you care about space, visibility, refinement luxury etc, get a Golf or a GR Corolla. If you want to experience a proper competition car, get this. I’m am simply thrilled with mine. Though I had to sell my beloved Civic Type R FD2 for it, it is truly a worthy successor.

The magic of the GR Yaris is you don’t even need to find that B road to appreciate it , I enjoy the way it drives and the manual box and mechanical feel even on the daily driver trips. But when you do find that quiet B road, oh boy….

Loved this video, and I love my GR Yaris. When I try to explain to people "what" the yaris is,I tell them it basically drives like a late 90's early 2000's jdm sportscar, but in a modern package with just the right ammount of tech. I sold my E36 M3 built for track use after I bought the yaris, because the yaris is more fun to drive, and is probably faster with just a few mods. Its so good.

Beautiful video! I live in Norway where Tesla's are everywhere. I could get a top specced Model 3 for less than a GR Yaris, but I bought the GR Yaris. The Model 3 is a soulless boring small boat. Sure it has straight line, but the GR Yaris is FUN.

I have a GR Carolla in the US and had someone recently ask if they came in hybrid and wanted one lol. It’s a core so it is more subtle than the CE trim. But coming from a MK7 GTI, I like sleepers that look nice. It would be awesome to see a Yaris in person. It looks great (never thought I would say that about a Yaris 😂)

Lots of great points that you brought up. I've had a '14 Fiesta ST from new & virtually "no one' knows what this car is all about. They scratch their head wonder why a guy like (me-:) would be caught dead in a Fiesta??? I mostly don't even bother explaining what they are not aware of. So back to more important things - How would you compare the GR Yaris to a Fiesta ST & more importantly the new and "improved" GR Corolla? (BTW I have my name on a "list" for the GR C - I was perfectly happy with the ST till the GR C was announced) THX

For that amount of money GR Yaris is not special enough, not exclusive enough and too small as a car. but maybe I still buy it when prices drop, although that thing is so small...

I tend to disagree; special production line, especially developed chassis, engine, body work, carbon roof, etc-etc... for a homologation car for the roads, I think it is quite a little cheap; sure, it is more expensive than it was two years ago when I've put my name for one than canceling it(thinking it I will take one later after I finish the house); now, there is no allocation for it in my country anymore and, throughout Europe, on the brand new(delivery miles) second hand ones, the prices are 10 to 13k more than it would have costed me to order one in 2021..so, I cannot afford it, as I would have leased it, not being able to pay it in full. Hopefully, one day but, if they continue to appreciate in value.. it might be never... which saddens me big time.
