This time I wasn’t the enemy Katsu lol, but I think you’re overrating their losing blue bonds from mask. Generally as Katsu it’s 1 more damage to Katsu for red bonds, and get a yellow gustwave, that’s 2 (gustwave) + 4 (bonds) so 6 damage. It’s only 5 when you have blue bonds red gustwave. Mask for blue bonds comes up sometimes, but you very rarely get punished for losing it

Can Katsu reliably triple Bonds without MoPL for the blue? Maybe I'm overestimating how powerful a good double Bonds is, or how easily Katsu can put triple Bonds together in a relatively short game.

@@Lupinefiasco so you’re getting both the Katsu proc, and the mopl trigger at the same point. Triple bonds can be assembled very flexibly if you’ve got sufficient graveyard. You can do it starting from 3 bonds, 1 gustwave, or 2 bonds, 2 gustwave, or 1 bonds 3 gustwave. You bonds for your missing pieces. If your graveyard is filled, say 2x bonds, and 2x gustwaves, it doesn’t matter whether you Katsu for bonds, or lynx for it. You only need to use both lynx and Katsu for bonds if you have say 3 gustwave in grave, but no bonds, (because then you can’t bonds for bonds). There’s also potential situations where you have many 1c gustwaves in hand, or just other non Katsu-able cards, so you can’t search for bonds with Katsu, and lynx can definitely unbrick those. It’s not very common to have a hand that can’t Katsu proc that doesn’t have bonds in it though, as bonds is the majority of your non 0c cards. The main point is that mopl for a yellow gustwave, either whelming or descendent tends to be 1 damage more than a similar line with mopl for blue bonds. Mopl for blue whelming gustwave is the same rate as blue bonds. Tldr it potentially stops you from comboing in a few specific hands, but usually blue bonds is 1 damage below your best line on the combo turn, and given how flexible the combo is it’s usually not needed. I’d actually say that yellow whelming is the best one to see them block with bc it’s the best rate mopl target on the full turn.
