Good tip about tv shows causing too much stimulation. My almost two year old goes off and plays during most of school time or plays at the table and it’s working ok. We generally have to save Read Alouds for the beginning of his naptime. He likes to get loud when I read. 😂

I need to utilize nap time more. By the time it comes around I am spent 😂🫠

Consistant routine is such a blessing in my HS. I tried to HS as they naturally woke(10am) up thinking it would be better. It was a complete disaster. One was upside down on the chair, and the other was asking about lunch and snacks, even though they just had breakfast. I also use music(hymnal) adter breakfast as a transition to Bible study. I'm now implementing a 15 min walk once we are done with HS as we reflect on the day. Transition prompts really work well with my children.

I love and appreciate your content very much! I'm a homeschooling momma of 9+ with 12 years under my belt, and I still learn new stuff from other homeschooling mommas every time I watch these videos. You mention catechism in your daily routine. Can you make a video of how you incorporate that, along with some of your thoughts. We are considering adding that to our homeschooling routine.

I love how you do independent lunches! Do they plan what they want to eat or do you tell them what’s for lunch and they make themselves?

We homeschooled last year and it’s amazing how independent the kids become with their learning through homeschool. Like you said, a lot of the time they just need you available for questions (if they even have any). Within a week or two of starting homeschool, the kids started teaching themselves the math concepts through the resources available. That is something I didn’t expect, and now they are applying that skill in their brick and mortar school and are even better students than they were before!

Thank you so much for the reminders in this video. Having 5 children, two of which are girls hosting through puberty, has been driving everyone bonkers.. The oldest has always fought me when it comes to homecoming. Finally found out she has ADHD. We did decide to let her have a year back in public school to see if that's a better for since she has always thrived academically there... Just terrified because she'll be going into 7th grade and so many things is there school system nowadays are contradictory to our beliefs. Aside from that, it's nice to remember that all of us struggle with homeschooling.. But it's a rewarding struggle ❤️

Excited to see more about Biblioplan. We are going to be doing SOTW volume 2 for my second grader next year, but am looking to see if Biblioplan is worth getting as well now or wait until my kids are older. Also, I would love to see the extra readers and read alouds you loved.

Do you ever feel burnt out to do all the subjects together/reading aloud. Part of me wonders if this style of schooling is for extroverts lol! I love the idea since we have 5 kids but haven’t been able to achieve. I just get overwhelmed and my kids get silly and rambunctious when we do family subjects. Ahhhh. I keep trying morning time though.

You have such a beautiful family! Thanks for the advice and schedule examples and suggestions. I've been homeschooling for 4 years and have 5 kids ages 8 years to 8 months. I am working toward getting into a better rhythm with our day. One small change I have recently made is scheduling snacks and what we are having the day before so we have fewer interruptions. It has helped! Trying to make changes slowly and give myself grace during this season. 🙂 Your son playing piano at the end almost brought me to tears...beautiful! ❤

I have come to similar conclusions after homeschooling for almost 10 years. Consistent routine tremendously helps everyone and media definitely can overstimulate very easily. Well said Megan. Thanks for the encouragement.

Great video! I had message you early this week on instagram about CLE and when you were showing the kids working on it, I was like if the quietness comes with the curriculum than I am sold...lol! But than there was your disclaimer 😂.

What do your kids do during your Bible time, history time, table time…reading aloud? I feel like my boys can’t do anything and pay attention lol They also can’t sit still for long…suggestions?

Hi Megan! I would like to know how the theme based writing is going with your 7th grader? My son is in seventh and I’m thinking about using fix it grammar/writing next year but I would prefer to do the themed writing vs. structure and style. We’ve never used iew and so I was wondering how that would go without ever using the structure and style?

Hey there you actually turned me into pride we are doing yellow do u recommend orange then all about reading or did u jump to all about reading from yellow. And how is all about reading still coming. My son is slightly irritated with some of repetitive nature of pride (it's helped a ton so he will finish the book lol). I guess an update and your thoughts. I plan to use all about reading for my middle and youngest so it wouldn't be a waste so I am open to suggestions

The yellow level of PRIDE helped my son so much! By the end of it he was at a point where I felt like we could move into All About Reading. I still use some of the tactics from Pride in our All About Reading Lessons when I think it would help solidify things for him. I’m so grateful we used PRIDE first! It really was a game changer for us and got him to the point of actually being able to read. I hope that helps! I’m so glad you are experiencing success 💜
