Does International Women's Day help or hurt women's causes? Are you deserving of a pinch from St. Patrick for not accepting the Green New Deal? Is a March Madness style tournament the best way to narrow down the ever-growing list of Democrat presidential candidates?
Join this roundtable discussion featuring Ben Shapiro, Andrew Klavan, Michael Knowles, and Daily Wire god-king Jeremy Boreing, as they discuss all of this insanity and more.

I lost interest in the Daily Wire podcasts because I don't like just hearing the daily news rundown... but I always make sure to watch these. A bunch of smart, principled, and hilarious conservatives who can differ on specifics but agree on fundamental truths always makes for a beautiful discussion to watch.

They did not entirely get rid of them. I saw a Financial Controller position for DW that required a Bachelors, which I understand. Just wanted to point that one out. I didn't check any of the other ones to see if any others required them.

Just a comment regarding going to college. Forty years ago (when grade inflation was not yet rampant and you could actually get a degree without incurring the national debt) college was also a time for you to move away from home and experience being out on your own. Your professor didn't care if you slept through your alarm - you flunked the test. The dorm didn't care if you spent your last dollar on a beer the night before they still weren't going to make you dinner on Sunday (not included in the meal plan) Your parents might send you a check for a few bucks to help out, but since it had to come via snail mail you had to make do for a couple of days. Your parents called once a week to make sure you were okay. Now college students are living with their parents in a virtual world where they are still being taken care of and they don't have to worry about failing because they have instantaneous access to their parents who will probably bail them out. Students who in the past actually built some level of maturity just from the college experience no longer are able to build adult skills as the adults in their lives won't let them.

56:00 I guarantee, that the system Dave Ramsey uses, works. Yes, the system does require you to buy in, but that's true of everything. What makes it work is that it's cut-and-dry. People, myself included, see the path forward and can actually measure the progress. I can also attest, that without a plan, you will go nowhere. -Signed: a married couple who paid off $35,859.91 of debt in 21 months.

I'm inclined to think Jeremy's view of Dave and debt is a tad narrow. Following the "standard" spending map and finding yourself in loads of debt is more than a little different than the person fighting a physical addiction (though that addiction may be very expensive or even involve the acquisition of stuff or just spending money in various ways). Many people get into debt problems without it necessarily being an addiction issue. Those truly addicted to shopping or spending might have the same result rates as the the member of AA, but those who are not addicted and just take hold of the program, are almost certain to beat the odds. Dave has helped a lot of people, as have the folks at Crown Financial Ministries, who teach a similar program.

It's awesome to hear that you paid off so much so quickly. Wow!! We paid off 49k in about 2 1/2 years, 10 years ago. Before Dave we never made much progress. I was trying to use math. Highest interest paid first, etc. Dave's plan really worked for us in a difficult time in our life. Because of being debt free we were able to take a risk and start a business in 2014. It's been a huge blessing. I listen to Dave every few days to this day. We are currently rebuilding our EF (wiped out by some medical bills) and want to do it quickly. That means sacrifice and it is easier if I go there and get inspired.

I was coming on here to write similar. Dave has over a months waiting list for callers who got out of debt with his system. I thinks it’s more than 5%. Also...their survey of over 10,000 millionaires showed that a vast majority of them got most of their money from doing things he teachers. Whether they learned it from him or not.

Jeremy is 100% right about how to start a business. There isn't any magic. You just do it. Mostly because you feel driven to do it. The strong-willed part can't be overemphasized. It takes a shall not be denied attitude. That might not be obnoxious like my own, but it is always persistent.

Michael Knowles is sooo part of the problem. In very few cases is college better than trade schools. I know A LOT more people who went to trade school and are making a lot more money than college grads. Also guess what they don’t have 100k in debt too. When trade school people graduate they go to work at a business and get 1st hand knowledge of how a business works.

Universities, like Yale, have to keep their dropout/failure rate low, otherwise their admittance isn't all that exclusive and they aren't actually an elite college. And their status as an elite college is the only thing that allows them to charge what they do for an education. It's all about status.

I like these guys. But something always kind of irritated me about these Daily Wire Backstage confabs. Today I realized what it was: these guys are just as elite as your run of the mill successful leftist. Nothing wrong with that, but they're kind of sitting around acting like a bunch of regular guys, when they are not. None of these men have roofed a house, worked on a factory line, laid a brick, or dug a ditch on a hot day. I'm about 100% in agreement with their political views. They're fighting the good fight and providing some much-needed push back to what we are confronted with every day in the public forum. But theyr'e not really one of us any more than your Chris Comos and Rachel Maddows are one of us and I wish they would stop it already with the regular guy routine. Oh well. As Joe E. Brown said at the end of Some Like It Hot, "Nobody's perfect."
@urablahblah
@urablahblah 5 жыл бұрын
I think the difference is that these men would do the work you just described if it were required while your typical "elite" would not. Just because they have been successful enough in their careers to not be required to do such hard physical labor doesn't automatically make them "elite" in the way you're describing.
