Don't get me wrong, having a villager with Fortune III books to start off would be nicely more valuable in the very short term. But it wouldn't take long before he was just dead weight, a villager with nothing you need anymore and a profession and set of trades already locked in because you've traded with him already. A Mending villager will still be valuable later.

@@lizley7973 there used to be this thing called nether-reacter before the nether-portal. The hardware at that time can't handle the nether world so thats how they fix it.(by making a chunk of hollowed out neither rack with a couple of zombie pigman and spawn random drops on the floor for a short period of time before deactivating.) I cant remember it exactly since it's quite a long time ago.

a compromise for emerald armor, same stats as diamond, but every time you are near a villager with it they will steal it, and sell it back to you for a ridiculous price, ex: 20+ diamonds/more if enchanted. but each villager can only steal that peace once, and if you do get one piece of armor back you get a discount for every other item that isn't the stolen armor. armor can be stolen from internal storage as well ex: inside a shulker box in your inventory, or your inventory itself.
