The salad sauce you're referring to is called "Şalgam," pronounced "shal-gam." It’s a fermented turnip juice. Its unique flavor makes it stand out. You can also enjoy it as a beverage, and it's widely available. However, finding a good-quality one can be a bit tricky. If you're interested, I recommend trying the "Ali Göde" brand, which is known for its quality. Some places might have it for sale. and gotta say it is super healthy.
@mannu99358 күн бұрын
Interesting. The Urdu/Hindi translation for Turnips is just shalgam. Shalgam gosht is a pretty famous seasonal village dish here in some parts of Indian subcontinent. Always nice to come across hints of our shared linguistic, cultural history. :)

There are different kinds of simit. You can see different simit in every city in Turkey. There are even simit without sesame seeds xD (in Rize). Street simit, bakery simit etc. You can drink ayran or tea with simit. You can drink pickle juice with simit in Bursa. If you haven't been to Bursa, you should come to Bursa.

Typical simit contains flour,water,yeast and sesame. The "simit" that you ate is "Tereyağlı simit". Tereyağlı simit contains butter. That's why it's so delicous and crispy. Second one was "kaşarlı poğaça". It's not simit.
