Yeah the Angel's did help last episode, that was the blast from heaven before the demons came for their turn. Also those ghost wont go to afterlife if the boys have their souls, a soul is what goes to heaven or hell.

One of my favorite fan fictions is a Sam/Chuck "Buy the Ticket, Take the Ride" with ten works by MajorEnglishSquire. Has a Chuck that was only a part-time vessel for god. The care and tenderness Sam exhibits toward Chuck reminds me of the fiction.

I always want more dean and cas hugs but the look of relief on dean's face when cas said "dean" with his cas voice is so beautiful 😭, they did try hitting amara with all the angels last episode and still did nothing. My boy cas is so smart, he's the one that came up with the souls idea to defeat amara, coz they are full of light, he would know coz he sees dean's soul shine as bright as the sun lmao.
