Amazing! 👏🏼 Let's do this on i3 and Bolt, has it been done on one yet? FYI a lot of US LEAFs (like my 2011) got the DC option for free, standard, as part of Obama's Reinvestment Act. Well first, here's how you do it for a 2013: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJrMdXx7oshnfrc Second, I know the 2011s will support 6.6kW and CHAdeMO; mine was done at the factory. Apparently I have a "unicorn" 2011 Leaf SL. Bought the Showroom Queen with 350 miles on, and got a $6K discount. Didn't realise how well equipped it was until last month. HOWEVER, the factory "sticker" (the one that lives in a side window until you buy the car) says the "Fast charge port" was a $700 option. I can't see the markings on the PDM, but I can charge 20-80 in under two hours, and 0-100 in a little over four. And my Time To Charge display will show two different charge times (I assume because it is a ZE0, and Nissan had not yet settled on its ultimate display protocol,) but it differentiates them as 120V and 240V. But wait, there's more! Nissan later installed a 2015 "Lizard" battery in November 2016 under the Klee class action (I waited as long as possible before taking them up on it to maximise the life of the new battery.) Currently 74K miles, 74% SOH, 10 bars. I'm looking for a crashed Leaf Plus, and then going to swap in a 62kWh tub-thumper battery; my ten-year-old Leaf will have Tesla 3-level range, and I reckon I can charge 160% more battery in 160% more time, which would mean circa 5 hours 20-80, and perhaps 10 for 0-100. (I'll fit the old battery's modules into our garage as a house battery backup.) If the motor survived the crash, I may try to swap in the whole stack, (so I can get its quicker-off-the-line 160kW motor.) But that would mean it already has an updated 6.6kW PDM on the top of that stack. Perhaps it would be relatively easier to install my old stack (with motor,) but at least you'd know it would have come from a 2011 where it worked. As you can see from the video, this might involve more wiring, soldering, and cursing loudly at the car's CAN (at least, if you work as I do.) Of course not a whiff of this would be possible without Master Öster's brilliant research and generosity.
@Nicholas-f53 жыл бұрын
@@stevejordan7275 Most of the 2011 US models got free DC charging courtesy of the Energy Dept, amazingly. Reinvestment Act paid Nissan the difference to spec most of them that way by default to ensure EV success for the first two years till they were made in TN. I have one with the Lizard upgrade but 3.3 kw charging. It's possible to parallel them.
