I don't know where to start and how to properly congratulate you! Because every time I view your epic video of that memorable day I think of yet more stuff to say, but ,I guess I`ll try to keep it short and to the point(Yeah, right, haha). I`m not only incredibly glad you have included us on your numerous outings(fishing and hunting)via your awesome vids, but you have a knack ,almost like Stephen King, in creating the suspense factor also. I can't tell you how many days I`ll get up in the morning ,coffee myself up after a long night at work and think, shit ,todays the day DD will provide us all with yet another cool video! But, back to this video….From the very beginning to end ,we have had a special bond on how you set up the best possible techniques ,strategies ,using perseverance ,patience and incredible hunting skills to not only harvest an amazing trophy of a deer ,but ,that unique rack that you saw back in August, and upon seeing him for the 1st time seemed to change everything in your mind from that point on. Your only one desire was to harvest HIM…actually, your primal instincts kicked in and like it or not ,it literally had to be on your mind everyday and you knew you wouldn't be completely satisfied until you knelt over this big gorgeous deer after putting it all work and preparation and time together for making this final meeting with him happen. I've never harvested such a big buck like this in all my years of hunting(40+ yrs.). But, the ones that were the most memorable for me,were the ones that you put in an amazing number of hours and suffered day and night ,mentally and physically and then , finally, trembled your guts out as he finally came within shooting distance. These are feelings only the person behind the hunting implement knows. Talk about mixed feelings!!!…Theres the triumphant ,successful ,satisfied feeling of a final accomplishment ,but then ,again ,theres the downside, of ,geez, its all over…darn , but, it happened so fast!! And now its all over…but, guess what??!! No, it will never be over…this day will come on repeatedly in your little cinema in your brain either during the day or in dreams over and over…so, Dan!! This is just the beginning! Enjoy it! Take a break from the woods…sit back and swill a whiskey and reminisce my friend…you deserve to take it all in at this point..because there will be more deer in those woods for you to test your hunting skills…I think I yarned enough, for now…haha! Congrats to you and cheers!

Hey Brandon! I really appreciate that my friend. Where I hunt it’s brutally hard passing those nice 2.5 year old 8 pointers. But I had been on X all year. Never even shot my bow at a deer before. So it was insane for it to all come together! Thanks for the support!

I hunt upstate NY and completely agree that many would not pass those 8’s. I’ve yet to connect with a big one using my bow as I’m new at it but this was the first year I told myself during rifle “nothing less than a 3 year old and if I don’t shoot one there’s always next year.” I passed on small 6’s, 8’s and everything in between and my patience paid off and I connected on 12/2 with my biggest buck yet, 3.5 year old. It is so much more rewarding harvesting a mature animal, congrats! The character on that buck is sick!

Congratulations man. I hunt in the Guilderland area and shot my biggest buck ever this year. As you did I passed on a small 8 and 6 this year and had everyone telling me I was crazy. You can tell when someone is truly passionate about hunting when they are willing to chance getting no deer by passing a small one to try and get a bigger one that’s on camera. Awesome deer. Take pride in the fact that you passed a small buck for a big buck in the capital of NY with your bow that is extremely difficult task that most don’t accomplish.

Beautiful buck, perfect quartering away shot. But an unaware buck that close, slowly walking in the open doesn't need to be stopped. Seems there is this trend on the video's stopping deer as a matter of routine. We don't see those instances' where the buck just bolted, or dropped at the shot because it was put on high alert.

I meannnn I use a bow..... I’m not shooting a moving deer ever. I have not taken a deer with my bow and I have not practiced no I shots. Moving shots with bow is unethical IMO

@@smalltownarchery2470 yah I’ve already gave away too much info. People are on my case hard. I had nooooo idea how nosey and ridiculous some “hunters” are. I thought I could simply share some cool hunting content but now I’m like debating not even filming next year and deleting my videos because so many are up my ass on where I hunt and stuff.

@@DownstreamDownrange ya that's really annoying. I'd say if you enjoy filming then keep it up. I have been filming since I was a kid and I think I'm hooked. It is rewarding and fun to share with friends it's also nice to be able to see your shot placement. It is challenging though to make a clean shot while running a camera you have twice the movement And your mind has to be 2 places at once. As far sharing content for the public to see You are always going to have haters and people that are just ignorant. So just don't take it too personal. And instead focus on the people that truly enjoy your footage it's rewarding.

@@smalltownarchery2470 yes for sure ! I will ALWAYS film for myself and friends. Just not sure if putting the hunting stuff on youtube is very smart as far as where I hunt

@@mikesutherland7958 not in my zone. I shot the biggest. Almost zero bucks over 2.5 year old. Yes western NY and some bow only areas have 140-160’s all over

Yah even a bit high! I think upper teens 115-120 range. Got a 200 in the area this year
