Dalek Seven-2 appears on Spike Milligan's Q6 in December 1975. It would be the last time Dalek Two's skirt was seen on TV

Since the 70's, whenever I see a dead animal on the road or where ever, I would say "Put it in the Curry" and had no idea where I had got it from and people would look at me strange for saying it. Now I know where I got it from.

Ditto. I so love Spike, & I've loved this sketch since I first saw it on 't Kiwi Telly back in the late 70s (yes, I know it was first aired in the UK in 1975, but NZ was still a coupla years behind the rest of the world back then, as both time & the post traveled MUCH much slower), but can you imagine the reaction this would get nowadays??? It probably wouldn't even get past the Gatekeepers of Pubic (stet) Decency @ the painfully 'Woke' BBC. Yes kids, we WERE once allowed to poke a bit of fun at each other without immediately getting labelled as racist cnnts (it took ooh, at LEAST a week..! ;-) Cheerz!).

This sketch is often cited for racism but peopel fail to undrestand Spike's mentality. He was born and grew up in India and this sketch is a parady of racism. That was back in the day before the thought police and the 'woke' & 'shrill' communitys started dictating how we had to think about everything. Spike loved everyone and called out hypocrasy and oppression through comedy. But the 'wokes' will never understand that...
@Lumibear.
@Lumibear. 5 жыл бұрын
‘The wokes’ who complain about such things are mostly knee-jerk white lefty youth trying to adult, their breadth of understanding and depth of experience is just too small to make such judgements, they don’t understand context because they don’t have any frames of reference yet, in other words they judge every book by its cover. I like to direct them to look at That Was The Week That Was and the Mississippi Number, the historical research required to work out why nobody in the audience is screaming in horror must be quite mind-expanding for them.

Mukatsuku ikr, they did an entire show in blackface lampooning the South African apartheid system from the POV of black people, it was so insulting to those in charge over there that they were forced to tone it down for fear of an international incident, yet there is no effing way any woke youth could watch any of that without assuming racism by The Goodies I’m certain.

Hi Stephen. I’m afraid that’s not actually true. The sections of this Dalek were in constant use from Invasion of the Daleks onwards and throughout the 60s. This is the final appearance of that skirt section but the upper section continued to be used until Remembrance of the Daleks. Both halves now reside in separate private collections.

@@Dalek6388 I'm only going by what he was saying. From the way he spoke, it sounded like Spike had approached him. Well, whatever the case, there is a dalek in Coventry that you don't have to pay an entrance fee to see. And if you decide to visit, you can also see a couple of the locations from the Shakespeare Code episode. One is the registrar's office, and the other is a former hospital. I was unfortunately out of the city when they were filming, as it would have been nice to have seen my cousin who works on DW. But then again, I suspect she wouldn't have been able to get me on set, because of Spoilers, Sweetie!
