J.R rigged things to make himself look like a kind and concerned husband who wants to help his wife and is worried about her sanity while making her look like a drunken nutcase. If I'd been there and not known what J.R's like, I'd have actually believed him. The "Dallas" series was full of crooks and con artists but J.R happened to be the best one from what I've seen of him so far.

I saw this episode as a child (I was 10-11; 1980) and loved it!!!!! I was a huge Sue Ellen fan (those eyes and mannerisms!) and I was happy that she had gotten the best of JR with the PI and the faked spectacle of affection...however, she made the mistake of telling him her plans! Dammit! When Jock and Miss Ellie are reading those "reports" I was so happy...until it is realized that they were switched! Ole JR! I had to admit later, as a teenager/adult, that the switch was what kept the story going!!!! This and the "Black Market Baby" episodes are my favorites!

No they weren't blind to how J.R. was, yet at the same time, he was their son, so by that being the case, they weren't gonna ever turn their back on him no matter what. Back in those days of the show, the Ewings were a real family even with the dysfunction going between them all. And besides, Jock taught J.R. every dirty trick in the book, yet even admitted once how he never taught J.R. when to stop as though Jock alluded to it being his fault practically giving J.R. free reign to do what he wanted when he wanted for business and pleasure. And every once in awhile Jock or Miss Ellie didn't hesitate to tell off J.R. when necessary.
