It doesn’t matter how fast Bruce Lee was, If someone fires a gun, the bullet would be faster.

Love the channel Stripey. As I was watching this vid my Way of the Dragon by Arrow was pushed through my letter box. You know what I got it for, the masterpiece that is The Final GoD. I've also been wondering why Ang's biopic went quiet and I did think for a second that maybe he had to revisit the script because of some letters that became public. Doubt the estate would be into that take though so maybe not!

With Bruce's wife involvement with dragon the bruce lee story movie, I'm surprised that she allowed that many falsehoods in the movie. Many teaching opportunities missed.

Yep, but it is what it is. I wonder if Ang Lee’s will do a similar thing 🤔 Cheers pal 👍

Hi. Any new film about Bruce MUST mention the HUGE impact that Jiddu Krishnamurti had on him after his back injury. Linda Lee says that whilst recovering from the back issue Bruce read ALL of Krishnamurti’s written works… and then the history of his JKD and his thinking changed. Dragon totally ignored this!

Question: Should GINKBB and his epic comment get a co-host credit for this video? Am I wrong or did you still have hair when you started reading that comment?

Thank you for the shout-out Stripey. ( And yeh...that was indeed "sarcasm" you detected.. not too cleverly concealed I'm afraid...) I do agree that the Lee estate has certainly ( for the most part) done a good job of maintaining a completely positive image of Bruce. Tho I do believe that Lee's legacy can more than withstand the weight of any myth damaging truth. As well as "jabs" at his legacy, ala "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood." Cheers.

Great question about Bruce being at the Tate party. If there's one person you'd want there, it would be him. They definitely would have stood a better chance.

Dragon was a entertaining movie, but yes it was not accurate. Instead of a BioPic someone should make an accurate Documentary series. Which does not Embellish Bruce Lee with false information. Just accurate Bruce Lee information. Both good and not so good, facts, i.e. Bruce Lee drug letters, relationship with Betty Ting Pei. Bruce Lee fans will still love Bruce Lee regardless. Even if he was not perfect. Fans just what to know Bruce Lee in his entirety.

I was 5 when my dad took us to see Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, so I grew up loving it. I know it's a biopic & isn't accurate, but the performances & action scenes were fun. JSL turned in a fine performance (the part where he unleashes his frustration in front of Linda should have netted him an Oscar nomination & he should have been a bigger star) & the movie was never boring. It's a biopic, don't look for it to be completely true to the actual story. Treat biopics like comic book adaptations: you're NEVER going to get a one-to-one translation, so just sit back & enjoy the ride.

Hi Stripey great video as usual love it. I enjoyed the film with Jason Scott Lee but I knew it was mostly fabricated. Bruce Lee deserved much better and his life was amazing. Thank you Stripey and take care always Stripey 😁

Hi Stripey, My first reaction when I saw your video : where is the Pirate look? I liked it 😅 Anyway, i enjoy the the Saturday ramblings's topic Biopics hum, there are some very good ones, Ray, Ragging bull ans some awful, Bohemian rhapsody, Blonde...and fantasy ones as Dragon. The thing is, some viewers may be misled about the life and personality of the celebrity in question. This can be hagiographic or insulting, both are false! So, and I absolutely agree with you, the best Biopic does not exist! as.....the JKD nowadays, it's an interpretation😁 💥 😈 (just kiddin') The best way to tell someone's life story, are testimonies of those who knew the person and this can only be done in an honest, factual and good documentary. Bruce's one...well, we're still waiting for it. Take care mate, keep up the good vibe and Wataaaa 🐉.

Hi mate, I've just ordered Tracking The Dragon it's been on the wishlist for a while so thanks for the review as it's a nice addition to John Little's other docs (Warriors Journey needs a Blu Ray/4k upgrade!) I enjoyed the 10 Things About Dragon video, I loved it back in the day but as I've gotten older and read so much more on Bruce the movie definitely has its flaws & embellishments...... I suppose Hollywood took the John Ford approach "When given the choice between the truth & the legend, always give them the legend" Regarding your comment on Oliver Stones The Doors it was heavily inspired by the book "No One Gets Out Alive" by the Doors manager, it's one of the best books on the Doors and we'll worth your time mate! PS - I believe the frost between Shannon and the Siblings has begun to thaw after the My Brother Bruce Lee movie, Shannon invited Robert Lee onto her podcast during Covid. Have a great weekend mate, & keep up the excellent work! Mark

Why do people so hunger for all the negative aspects of a celebrity’s life? To make him more human and take away all the things we gravitated toward the person in the first place? What does that ultimately accomplish? 100% truth and reality has its place no doubt, but this insistence and dependence on it can lessen our attention and affection by a lot for the subject we hold so beloved. Why do people want that?
@GINKBB

I would say that its natural for people, fans especially, to learn as much about those they admire as possible. Also, one of Lee's often repeated quotes was, to "be honest with oneself, not to lie to oneself, but to be totally honest..." ( well that my friend is very hard to do ) As one who "grew up" with Lee and his positive influence, I still want to learn about him. The "Baker letters" were a tough pill to swallow (pardon the pun) but essential for a more complete understanding of the MAN and not the "myth."
@ProfessorEchoMedia
@ProfessorEchoMedia 4 сағат бұрын
@@GINKBB All the understanding ever does for me is lower the person in my estimation and help destroy the myth that brought me to the person in the first place. I’m not saying there isn’t reason for digging beneath the IMAGE, but for me it never adds anything, just subtracts. YMMV.
@GINKBB
@GINKBB 3 сағат бұрын
@@ProfessorEchoMedia fair enough. I find that to be true for myself, initially. But as an artist myself and lifelong practitioner of martial arts, I chalk it all up to simply being "human." I hold several of my friends, teachers and mentors in very high regard. In spite of any of their human shortcomings. Personal, professional or otherwise. And with an ongoing attempt at understanding my own myriad personal foibles and failings. The old adage of "Trust the Art, not the artist." certainly comes to mind.
@ProfessorEchoMedia
@ProfessorEchoMedia 3 сағат бұрын
@@GINKBB I agree wholeheartedly. It can be very difficult separating the art from the artist, but often it’s what has to be done. Some things are unequivocally inexcusable, but I don’t find anything like that with Lee, not even the drug use. Having lived during that era I know that the drugs Lee took were as common as a beer after work on Fridays.
