Damion seems intelligent and level-headed, I like the fact that he holds himself accountable as well instead of assigning blame to everyone else. I like this interview.

Thank you. You are right, he is able to reflect on his part but also not turn the interview into an attack on others

I believe record companies breakup groups intentionally. Just so they either have to pay less people, or they can split up the pie. And make more money. Like the record company told New Edition they needed to get rid of Bobby Brown, cuz he was too much trouble. But then that same label turns around and signs Bobby Brown to a solo deal, LOL. You break the group up you can get solo deals out of everybody, which generates more money.

What Damion speaks of happens in any line of work unfairly promoting one over others. Making one group member the frontman has always lead to the destruction of many great groups.

Very true. He didn't say that they were all equal and recognised both Aaron and Teddy's skills, but as he said, it became Teddy Riley featuring Guy

As Damion said, it got easier to believe the hype around you and believe that you are better without those around you. Joining Blackstreet was a mistake, would have been better leaving them as one of his artist and have space for Guy

I never wanted him to join blackstreet, just feature like Wrecks n Effect. He wanted total control of Guy and marginalize the other 2. The business of music really sucks 😥 Teamwork on the debut album compared with Teddy becoming the leader and focal point

The Guy III album didn't have the same magic, Teddy's production genius diminished and Aaron's voice changed and lost a lot of range in his voice. The songs were mediocre. I know he not blaming the fans for not coming back 10 years later during the third album. New Edition came back strong with Home Again. Even I can admit this and I am a bigger fan of GUY than N.E.
@HalftimeChat3 жыл бұрын
He blames himself and the group for walking away for 20yrs and rushing back to complete Guy 3 which was taking tracks from 911 and rushing to project. Mucho said that any Guy tracks from the breakup were either rejected Blackstreet songs or 911 songs. No collective energy among the guys
@OmarHudson3 жыл бұрын
@@HalftimeChat The lead single Dancin' was not even produced by Teddy or written by anyone in group. How does someone write a better "guy" song for GUY than GUY? That should have been a red flag for Teddy to spend more time on the album. He probably wanted to rush it out before the group broke again Lol.
@HalftimeChat3 жыл бұрын
They were paid a lot of money by Universal music to bring out the album. No chemistry or love in the process. They took great songs and made them worse. No tour support and only 2 videos. I've been told that Aaron Hall is about to make a comeback with new music this summer and hopefully they can arrange for me to interview him 🤞🏾

@@HalftimeChat I think the only person who had passion for the Guy III album was Damion. But yes, the chemistry wasn't there and you could tell that Aaron wasn't really feeling any of the songs except for "Why You Wanna Keep Me From My Baby" and "Someday". I also think Teddy's success with Blackstreet overshadowed Guy as well.
@CodyCole802 жыл бұрын
@@NewSpiritWhosThis0707 🤔 Damien had/has passion from the fanfare he got from Guy…and maybe the show money. 🤷🏽♀️ He was a stand-in and had nothing to do with the creative process. *The only person who had true passion for Guy was Timmy cause he created Guy.* The others never held on to the spark afterwards because they didn’t create it, not even Teddy. It’s kind of like when Hollywood execs take a successful concept from a black creator and try to continue the spark after firing the black guy that created it: i.e. In Living Color, The Boondocks, Scary Movie series, etc. It’s never the same. 🤷🏽♀️
